Default Will Marty O'Malley take time out of his busy schedule to go to Foxboro tomorrow?

I know the wanna-be President thinks he's a national figure, but the University of Maryland plays Loyola for the lacrosse national championship tomorrow. I know he abandoned our state a while ago, but he's technically still the Governor. Thus, I am wondering if he'll take 2 hours out of his busy schedule to make an appearance in Foxboro for the game tomorrow??

Why do I get the feeling that if he did go to the game, you would be complaining about that?

Based on it being an all-Maryland battle, he should go. Even if he can't hog the camera the whole time, he should go because of the opponents. For once, he could represent this state in a non-partisan way.

National political group commands O'Malley's time

During the first three months of this year’s legislative session, Gov. Martin O’Malley scheduled as much time for the Democratic Governors Association as for testifying on bills, meeting with legislators and courting Maryland’s political leaders.

For every hour O’Malley booked for those tasks, he also blocked out an hour for the DGA — not counting train rides to New York, a flight to South Carolina, trips into Washington, D.C., or a drive from New York City to Connecticut on DGA business.

O’Malley’s public schedule for January, February and March tucks an average of 18.5 hours a month for the DGA into O’Malley’s workdays, weekends and evenings, according to a redacted copy analyzed by The Capital. O’Malley also spent an average of 19 hours a month on tasks with a national or international audience: meeting with ambassadors, giving national media interviews, visiting the White House and making trips to New York....

I did so back in 2007 when both teams were the worst of the worst. I still root for the Orioles, except when they play the Nats .

See, the sad thing about Marty is he used to pretend. For instance, recall when Marty, a lifelong Redskins fan, donned a Ravens jacket and pretended to celebrate when we won the Super Bowl. Nowadays, he wouldn't be caught dead rooting for a Maryland team. After all, he has them 10 electoral votes sewn up. Still, I am surprised he doesn't take the opportunity to visit Foxboro today. Massachusetts likely mirrors utopia in his progressive mind.

He's not going to take sides. Both teams in the Championship are from Maryland.

The current~governor attended and spoke at a Memorial Day ceremony yesterday to honor the fallen who served our country.

Was the ceremony in his former home state of Maryland? Anyway, congrats to the Loyola Greyhounds who beat all the odds and emerged as national champs.

Yes. It was at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills. Too many forget the actual purpose of Memorial Day and why we remember.

If you think for a minute that this, calculating politician went to the Veterans cemetery yesterday out of a genuine respect for veterans and not for his political future than you are beyond naive.

As far as the Lacrosse game even if it had been held on a different day he would not have been here. The players and crowd not diverse enough for him. Did not look like too many potential omalley followers, in that crowd.

If he had not done it out of genuine respect and merely for his political future he would have chose a far more publicized ceremony to attend. He was invited and he accepted.

it's what governors do. All governors.

It borders on the delusional to think that he should have omitted a Memorial Day ceremony to instead attend a sports event. Similarly, your opinion that it would have been somehow more genuine had he attended an out~of~state lacrosse game on Memorial Day and that he decided not to because "the players and the crowd was not diverse enough for him" is nothing short of asinine.

There is much to criticize the current~governor for, but participating in a Memorial Day service instead of going to a championship college lacrosse game isn't one of them. Had he turned down the Memorial Day service in favor of going out~of~state for a sporting event, I haveabsolutely no doubt that you and others would have criticized him for that as well.

These types of criticisms do nothing more than make legitimate criticism of the current~governor's policies and stances on issues look like "more of the same" from those who complain about him no matter what.

You obviously misread what i wrote. I never said he should have gone to a lacrosse game instead of the Veterans cemetery. All i said was not to attribute any altruistic reasons to him for going to the cemetery. Everything he does is with an eye as to how it would benefit him politically. Period!

    I understand you perfectly well.

You want everyone to think that you can see inside the current~governor's mind and heart and to pretend that attending such a relatively unpublicized memorial event was done to advance himself politically and that it is not something that all governors do, have done, and should always do on Memorial Day.

And you also pretend to have some inside knowledge that the reason he didn't attend the out~of~state college lacrosse championship game is because of the "lack of diversity" there despite the larger opportunity for publicity he would have garnered by attending. And the latter is in direct conflict with the "done for publicity purposes argument.

Which part of what I just said do you find to be in error?

You really have to get over your hero worship of this phoney. Nothing he does is unpublucized. If it was you andhis other worshipers would not even know he had gone to the cemetery. I dont have to read his mind after watching one phoney thing after another he has claimed t do since becoming Mayor like reducing crime in Baltimore.
