It is true. There's a reason no team signed him until now.
Who would have thought his OPS would drop off that much? He did hit .290 in the cleanup spot, but his power numbers dropped considerably. Given last year's roster though, I agree with Showalter sticking with him even though it didn't pan out. Not every decision by the manager turns out great. But the thinking into choosing his lineup last year was sound IMHO. He just didn't have much with to work.

I think by July maybe you realize Vlad can't hit for power anymore.

He typically batted much better in the second half of the season and that included power. The previous season with Texas he had a super second half after starting out rather slow. Showalter made the correct decision IMO to stick with him based on previous years' results. Nobody can ever predict when a player loses power for good. And who would have done better in that lineup last year?

I really like Vlad, but actually the opposite is true. Check Vlad's game log, his power vanished in the second half in 2010.

There's a difference between years of analyzing lineup data and some internet dude's evaluation of a player.

I was relying on my memory and that usually gets me in trouble. It's just that the Orioles were that bad last year that if not Guerrero, who?
