Default Florida voter rolls purge snags eligible voters

    ...of course...

..but that was the plan all along, wasn't it?

    excerpt;

The state of Florida is proving to be just as bad as James O'Keefe in determining who is and isn't eligible to vote. The frightening part, though, is that Florida actually has power to take votes away from people. Which is precisely what it is doing under Republican Gov. Rick Scott, who signed some of the most restrictive voter registration and voter ID laws in the nation. Most recently, the state has been purging the voting rolls, using often out-of-date motor vehicle information to target voters they contend might be non-citizens, most of whom are Hispanic, Democratic and independent-minded.

Think Progress profiles one of those voters, Maureen Russo, who was born in Akron, Ohio and has lived—and voted—in Florida for the past 40 years. Earlier this month, she got a letter from the state, telling her that she would have to prove that she was a U.S. citizen in order to keep her voter registration because it had "received information that she was not born in this country." Where this information came from remains a mystery.

It seems like reasonable folks will get behind an effort to get rid of dead people, illegals and other who are not eligible to vote.
The purpose seems to be to clean up voter rolls.

That is something the American People are in support of.

I worked on a project in Annapolis @35 years ago to purge the voter rolls of everyone who hadn't voted within the past 3 years, guess what, they never implemented the system.

That's the GOP intent, to get as many eligible voters off the rolls as possible.

I don't know many who are in favor of denying the vote to eligilble voters, which seems to be whats happening.

Take the dead votes add in the illegal immigrant votes and then bus the geriatric voters to the polls to make sure they vote for the "right" candidate and obama might squeak out a win in florida, in november. That is what all the hoorahing from the left is about.

That is what they want you to believe. They want you angry. So they throw out a few mistaken ones.

Any database needs to be cleaned up occasionally.

The fact that they supposedly are contacting voters to let them prove their identity is interesting in itself. Do they really have no other means to verify eligibility? Hard to believe.

A reasonable person would want dead people off the voter rolls. Are you one of those?

They're already taken off the rolls.

I'm against eligible voters being disenfranchised.

Every citizen has the responsibility to vote. Every municipality has an Office of a Supervisor of elections. It is the VOTERS responsibility to notify the elections office of a name change, a change in residence, or a change in mailing address. Florida Statutes require that you provide photo and signature identification in order to vote. Only those with an intent to defraud will object.

If you are so poor and ignorant that you can't get an ID then how do you get your Food Stamps, your welfare check, your free health care, your tax return, or your free government services?? Inquiring minds want to know.

The State has a legitimate interest to register each and every voter within its borders. Again only someone with a sneaky illegal agenda will object to the State's legitimate interest.
