I enjoy baseball, win or lose

Why don't you go watch the Yankees then?
If it's just baseball you love, well there's the other Major League teams, Japanese baseball, the minor leagues, college, and high school to watch, not to mention many semi-pro and rec league teams for men of almost all ages to play in.

I'm an Oriole fan. I want the Orioles to win. Watching the Orioles lose and lose and lose is not my idea of a good time.

By the way: there's a good anime (Japanese animated cartoon) called "Major" that follows a Japanese boys dream of being a pro ball player like his dad (who played in the Japanese Majors) all the way from his kindergarten days up until when he goes through an American Major League career. The Japanese people love them some baseball, and they hold our Major Leagues in highest esteem.

The question is why should you like the Orioles if the only thing it is to you is that you like baseball? What makes them different than any other team? What makes a Major League team different than any other type of team?

If you claim being a fan, then presumably you care whether they win or lose even if you claim you will never give them up no matter how poorly they play. Even if you won't give them up, as a fan you'd rather they win then lose.

Agreed. I also haven't seen any of the games on this losing streak.Life has taken over with this child (whom is one-month old now ) of mine. Did you see anything they did differently in the losing streak than how they played earlier in the season? Or were they just overwhelmed with better competition?

It looks like the starting pitchers are struggling now that the hitters have a gotten a good look at them. Chen has given up 13 runs in his last three starts, Hunter has looked awful, and Arrieta has been inconsistent. Compund that with the injuries to the offense and it's not looking pretty.

It looks like the starting pitchers are struggling now that the hitters have a gotten a good look at them. Chen has given up 13 runs in his last three starts, Hunter has looked awful, and Arrieta has been inconsistent. Compund that with the injuries to the offense and it's not looking pretty.

All you have to do is score more than the other team to win...just sayin'

It is true that you definitely have to have some talent, but I've seen it happen often enough where the less-talented team defeated a superior team because of chemistry. I coached a championship team one year that IMO was 75% chemistry and determination. And.in contrast, the most talented team I've ever coached never made it to the postseason. My point is - never underestimate team chemistry and determination.

But hey.....you can always look 4ward to that stretch when they inexpliciably win something like 10 of 12 or 15 of 20 toward the end. Unofrtunately.....that's also the stretch that knocks them right out of contention for the #1 pick (and often even #2 and 3.)

Your comments remind me a lot of my younger sisters when they were going through puberty. Don’t worry, in time the hormone surge will pass and you will become more rational in your thought process. BTW, your skin will clear up and yes, you will get that boyfriend (Justin Bieber?) you dream about.

You realize things change during the course of a season, right? Ebb and flow of baseball. Every team goes through winning and losing streaks.

We hit a 6 game slide and yet still have 1st place in the AL East. So what does that say about the other teams in the division? They are underachieving?

Chen gave up 5 in the 1st his game before last and pitched a gem last night. Clearly he was able to rebound. And have you seen Wieters lately?

You look kind of silly extrapolating characteristics during a losing streak as the final level of performance of the team as if it were static and unchanging.

Looking for the sweep tonight in Fenway. According to some of you the season was over last week. The first rough patch and you are already throwing in the towel. I mean, you could at least wait until if the team falls below .500 before making such proclamations. They are in first place for christsake.

Byngo! And not only are we in First place only Texas in the whole of the American League has a better record and by only 1 game. Just think what it must be like to be a fan of Detroit with all of the money that they spent and we have a number of guys with more home runs than the Prince!
