If that same alumni just took a few guys out to Disney that also would be a violation. If you go back to the pre Zack days at GC, Tuition was being supplied 2 years before and 2 years after, to make sure a solid team was built. I am one that believes if Coach was still in NM so would Zach, Brown and Diggs would be there. Be honest with yourself. Ask yourself how many teams out in the middle of nowhere, that have not won more than 5 games in 4 years. Have a 5star and a 4star saying that that school was one of the teams on their list. Heck The NCAA was shocked when they went to MD being local kids. I can tell you neither of these recruits would be at MD with out Coach and BD in the picture.

Yes this all could be true but This doesn't effect Gilman whatsoever. Gilman isn't a college and no rules would be violated. Now if LOCKSLEY was paying for a kid that's not his son tuition to Gilman now this would be a violation. Dancel isn't on anyone's staff, so him paying for kid's tuition is another thing. Now from my understanding, he is also not a Maryland booster so again a none issue.

But all of this is a moot point because I'm 100% sure Locksely is paying his kids tuition. This is just Card promoting his smear campaign against Biff and Gilman. He's very bitter about the fact that he believed the Cards were on it's way to MIAA dominance but now knows that it is going to be near impossible to compete with Gilman in the future. He's trying to drum up enough support from the masses to in some way get Gilman to oust Biff and change what they are doing. Which no matter how much propaganda he throws out there just isn't going to happen. Gilman is doing nothing wrong and nothing that the other schools aren't doing. They just have more money.

if i were locksley i certainly would not want the implication of impropriety or even to be mentioned on this forum in the light being presented by card92. ga, you certainly are correct that the privates can do as they please. that is the true advantage of doing anything privately. i sent my children to private school and know the drill. if the md assistant is being unfairly smeared that is a true shame. as a life long md fan and ex-participant on a very fine terp team i want this coach to succeed, even though i am not certain he is the right man for the job.

Coach will be fine I 'am sure he has a cancelled check from Gilman. What is on here is speculation. Some true some false in a ton of different subjects. The Terps do need coach if not they would not have very many top recruits. The whole staff at Maryland needs to get results. I do not see many wins this year and the Alum will usually judge your record once your recruits become JR/Seniors, This to is speculation!

    Cool

At the end of the day I believe this is better for the state. So why is it stirring up so much turmoil?

No matter what school your allegiance lies you must attest that this press brings more light to the state of MD highlighting the potential talent. Smith will probably have a target on his back but also be in the spotlight for national attention. This attention will serve as a outlet for all MD athletes. Once they face him and his CHC team the athletes will have a greater opportunity to make a name for themselves now. I personally believe Smith will embrace the targeting and thrive off of it. Only time will tell but in the meantime why not embrace this accompishment for the state?

2K10 Terp brings up a good point.. Early offers aren't really that new.. The highly recruited states(FLA,Tex, Cali etc) have had them for years. The simple fact MD is now getting them is testament to how hot Md is right now.

I cant remember a time when Md had so many rising junior and rising sophs with offers.. Its new to the area so of course there will be those that object.. particularly those that played or their kids played when Md wasn't getting recruited as heavily and maybe they feel slighted. Times have changed and many old timers like things to be like it was when they played but it isn't. . but all in all its good for the kids playing now and it only fuels more Md youth to want to play football and at a high level.. with that comes a commitment from them in the classroom and training as they know they cant get to the NFL without getting into college.. Unlike other sports like basketball and baseball where you can by pass college.. IMO

Lax and Hoops may still be king in the area but football is closing that ground fast.. actually I think Football has surpassed Hoops in the Baltimore area and surrounding counties.. again just my opinion
