I agree with Big Sky, go with your gut. Every situation is different. As someone who transferred from a public to a private school, I know how hard that transition can be in all facets. I was a good student, all As, in public school, but McDonogh's academic load hit me like a brick wall. It took me the better part of a year to adjust to the difference in academics before I was even back to all Bs. I honestly feel I might have been better off in everything (sports and academics) if I had reclassified back a year. Just 2 cents from someone who's been in a similar situation, albeit at a different grade level .

Couldn't agree with you more. I to had a adjustment when I came into Gilman from a public school. Was a very good student coming in and it definitely took me a while to adjust. I also was young for my grade. Started 9th grade as a 13 year old. I definitely believe that I was way too immature to start college at 17 like I did. Made some dumb decisions that first year because of my immaturity.

I'm not in favor of it regardless of the reason. If a child is able to compete academically why hold him back because he is immature.? What happens if you hold him/her back a year and he/she is still immature? Life is too short to spend spinning your wheels. Get out there and take your chances just like everyone else.

Definetly alot to think about, the schools that I have spoken to are totally for it.NOT just athletically its a transitioning period and gives them time to mature socially and athletically(not sure i should put that).Anyway,as stated before thanks for your input.

Just curious, the schools that are totally for it, do they collect tuition for that reclassified year?
