DD showcasing Reynolds at 1B for trade?

Thats the only possible explanation I can see. Watching the last time Davis was playing regularly at 1B, he was making some good defensive plays there, so i cant think DD finds him worse than Reynolds. I think he is hoping another team will trade for Reynolds after seeing him get time there.

I don't think so. Reynolds may be dealt this year, but at this point DD would still be selling him at below value since his HR numbers are down. I think Davis did better in the field than people give him credit for, including a couple nice picks (especially in the early part of the season when the whole team was throwing it all over the place), although there were some catastrophes there too.

But the bigger issue is that, as Buck said, Davis is better able to stay "engaged" as a DH, while Reynolds' offense is better when he's also in the field. Plus, although there have been a couple hairy moments, Reynolds' D at 1B has been pretty good. I don't necessarily think it has to do with trade value as much as the fact that this might simply be the best arrangement for the team. As long as they're competitive, they're not going to hurt the team for trade value reasons.

Plus, given that Reimold is out, the O's can't really afford to lose offense right now, unless Reynolds is part of a deal for a middle-of-the-order hitter or No. 2 pitcher.

I can't remember where I heard this, but I recall hearing that Reynolds has trouble getting his head into the game when he DH's, so Buck likes playing him at first.

He does seem to hitter better when he fields, but losing his focus as a DH is not a good quality to have when you are the worst defensive infielder in the last decade.

Davis is...looking like the future. Jones is awesome, obviously, but I'm most excited about Davis starting to live up to his potential. He has 40 homer power.

Davis is still a DH....his glove has been pretty good, but a little inconsistent.

I've heard that about Reynolds too, but figure since Davis is younger and under team control for much longer, and also wasnt that bad compared to Reynolds at 1B, just that he would keep the 1B position. I have read Reynolds is still under team control next year for the Orioles, even though he has an $11M option with a $2M buyout. Odd.
