Maybe the "homeless" player system, or the "Bullseye" combine/recruiting system, or the "we will not punish the player for their parents moving into the wrong district, but still allow them to play for RH". There are so many its hard to keep track.
All that being said though the "Coach" is very good and "the offense" is very hard to defend. River Hill is the best team in the state and anything less than a championship would be a disappointment. The real question is when does "Coach" take himself and his line coach a little further up 108 to Good Councle? I dont think anyone would be surprised if that was the next step. And the other question is does River Hill stay the machine it is or do they take a step backwards. I think everyone would agree that Hammond will take a step back with coach Mo' leaving.
This will be a very interesteing off-season, but we still have more football to play. I hate to say it, but I'm hoping the Hawks pull it off because it is good for the county and it too keep our 3A state championship streak going. I made the statement earlier in the year that Howard County was the best public high school league in the state and I have seen nothing to back down from that statement. GO HOWARD COUNTY AND GO HAWKS!!!
The county did not look as strong this year as in recent years, but I am hoping it was stronger than the rest of the state. If an Urbana team at 9-3 comes into the Hawknest and beats River Hill then it will not show well for Howard County Just like when Wilde Lake beat the oh so powerful 12-0 Damascus team 2 years back.
I am curious to see how the program moves forward. The jv team lost more games this year than they have in the last 10. Maybe it's time for Van Deusen and his right hand man to move on to bigger things or risk sticking it out and hoping for the farm system to bring in better talent within the next year or so.
A lot of people claim Ho Co wasn't strong this year. I would counter that on the whole, they were stronger than ever. What's wrong with parity? I think it shows the level of football in the county is rising. It was a blood bath this year because everyone, save a couple teams, were better than ever. Reservoir, Mount Hebron, Howard (except for unfortunate injuries) were very good teams with great coaching, and great athletes. A Glenelg team, which should have been a county champ contender, suffered because of the improved posture of the county. Atholton was a great team again because of great coaching and smart mid-year adjustments. Is this the second year in a row that the 3A championship was settled in the East regional championships? I hope so, but RH still has 2 tough games to go.
Agreed. RH hasn't had a tech magnet enrollment since about 2004. When is that going to be put to bed? The ROTC programs at Atholton, Oakland Mills, and Howard are legal and acceptable, and nobody is complaining. Can't a good program just be a good program? Give it a rest!
Any truth to the rumor that Dan Makosy is stepping down at Hammond? That was the rumor circulating at M&T Bank Stadium today for the State Semi-Finals coaches luncheon
Hammond (MD): Dan Maskosky has decided to step down after four seasons.

Now there are 2 openings in Howard Co. Any names being circulated as their replacements....
1. Long Reach
2. Hammond
O line check your spelling for Good Counsel! You seem to be very knowledgeable for a person who has not accomplished anything. I am a youth coach and I know who you are. Your comments are often inaccurate and critical- you were not a very good football player and even worst throws coach. Clean up your act. You used the words "I hate LRHS"
where does the anger come from? Is it because you as a player never beat them and that Howard's record is 3-13 against Long Reach.
"and even worst throws coach. "
Haha, and you are correcting his grammar??? O-Line seems to be pretty complimentary most of the time and is pretty positive. Sounds like someone who probably got his tail kicked by him in the past and instead of confronting someone he "knows" in person, does it on here.

Sorry my spelling can be spotty sometimes, its something that I need to work on haha. Im sorry my post have deeply upset you this much. Im actually glad people read and care about them so much haha. Im just an observer of Howard county football nothing more nothing less and I, like everyone else, just post my thoughts and observations. In the future I will send all my post to you before hand and maybe you could comb throught them and edit and make sure they are good for credentialed people like yourself. Cleaning up the act as we speak haha. And maybe you could show me how to "throw" some stuff later haha. Thanks for the feedback youthcoach! haha (never laughed so much writting a post)
hcfootball 10 -Nice response! You like O-line must be a Howard High grad. Howard High was the biggest underachiever this year even with the injuries. The players that move out of our program should be dominant at the High School level and they are not. When was the last time Howard High won a County Championship or Regional Championship? The largest school in the county with an JROTC program used for recruiting the kids that I have coached at the youth level. Kids and parents being told to fake addresses and join the JROTC program to avoid going to the school they should be going to.
You seem to know more than me about this. The fact that their are no need for fake address in order to register for JROTC, but with your extensive youth football knowledge Im sure you know all. I will let you explain yourself in your claim. Would you like to share some examples of this?

youthcoach, you seem very bitter and I am not going to keep arguing with you (even though that is what you want) but about me, you are wrong again. I am not a Howard High grad nor am I affiliated with the program. In fact, I coach against them. However, I have a ton of respect for their players and coaches. You calling them out in a season when they lost a former player, and started their JV QB at the end seems very cowardly to me. Seems to me they dealt with things bigger than football. They went 7-3 and went to the playoffs last year and lost to the eventual state champ...doesnt seem to bad to me. Hope your rec team wins the Super Bowl, but I have a feeling if they dont, it will be somebody else's fault.
Funny how HCfootball10 just started posting again after 2 years. (TW) please or Oline or HCfootball-You are a Howard Coach! So I expect that you would support Howard football! But, you can't say when Howard won its last football championship of any kind. Just like you can't say how a LB #33 ended up at Howard and was allowed to stay after getting caught using a false address that you knew about. The investigation found him using someone's utility bill in Howard's district and you knew about it TW. If you want this to get ugly I will blow it out of the water. So HCfootball10 go back to using Oline your normal login. Yes, I do enjoy working with the youth league football teams preparing them for their future high school teams. You made such a big deal about River Hill recruiting and falsifying addresses when your school has been doing it for years. "Those in glass houses should not throw stones" This is my last post because I don't want to get caught up in a war on words. When I see you TW I will let you know who I am and we can talked things out.
What are you talking about Capt. Paranoid?? There are plenty of people on here who know who I am, and I am not O-Line. I dont know how you want me to prove that, but whatever way you come up with, let me know. Blow whatever you want out of the water, it has nothing to do with me. As I said, I don't coach at Howard and I dont know who O-Line is other than him posting on here. If you say I last posted two years ago (which sounds about right) why dont you go back and read them and see if they have anything to do with Howard Football, becuase I would bet they dont. All I did was comment on how you corrected the man's grammar. You are one crazy dude.
By the way, I actually might be on your side on this one because if Howard did have an ineligible player, please do blow it out of the water. Since they beat us this year, I am all for it haha.
I know it was sad with the death of a former player at Howard. Your comments about Long Reach's team this year were awful. Do you know how close Eugene Swen was to his teammates. From what I hear, he was a major division one player as a sophomore before he lost his life. I've talked to some of his teammates at Long Reach who are former players for me and it did affect the team this year. From what I have seen, Long Reach has done great job with the talent they get. One coach was telling me that there incoming freshmen have no experience and that's been part of the reason the jv teams have done so poorly. The varsity team has had a winning record for the past 16 years with exception of this past year with no feeder program and experience players. If I remember correctly, they did win a county championship in 2005.
If you are neutral, why wasn't there any mention of the Swen's kids death in your postings as you as a jv coach ripped the Long Reach team who was mourning the death of what sounded like a great kid. If you don't reply I won't!
Just looking at the county standings this year, had Long Reach kicked two extra points in the overtime games they would have finished tied with Howard at 5-5. Just know that comments you make do affect others and hurt. Keep that in mind with your future postings as Oline or HCfootball10. I know you and you know me so don't pretend.
