Default MLBtraderumors confirms we are scouting Cubs pitchers...and Soriano.

Remember way back when we wanted Soriano and we lost him to the Yankees...It'll be like when we finally got D-Lee!

I'm mostly kidding, but this means that the Orioles think Reimold might be gone for the season.

Soriano is having a nice little bounce back season on both sides of the ball but he's contracted until 2014. No thanks.

doesn't mean Reimold is done. If they actually trade for Soriano then you can assume Reimold is done for year

They might be willing to take Soriano to land Garza or someone else the Cubs have thats good. Maybe Garza and Dempster and Soriano for Hunter/Gregg.

Why would the Cubs want Hunter & Gregg?

Yeah, in their current state I'd think they'd be looking for youth.

    Pretty sure he wasn't serious.

The Cubs already jettisoned Gregg once.

Aren't the Cubs desperate to trade Soriano? I figure the O's could bring back Garza in any trade that includes Soriano. Hunter is just filler for the Cubs rotation. Maybe they'd want Reynolds in return.

Do you really want 3 years of Soriano at this point?

I would take Garza or Dempster and Soriano if they can eat a good portion of Soriano's contract, and we don't give up anyone contributing on the MLB team, or Bundy/Machado.

If it means Garza and a playoff run, why not? Really doubt the Orioles would take on his full salary, but who knows. DD might like Soriano's bat over Reimold.

He's got the rest of this year, plus two more at $18 million per year. No way does Angelos take on that kind of money

From what I've read, the Cubs would definitely take on some of the money. They're just anxious to trade his contract and start the rebuilding process.

When I first looked at the idea of Soriano, I was skeptical.
After doing some research in conjunction with another thread, I found that outside of his inability to draw walks, Soriano would actually be a big plus to this team. His defense is very good, his power is still good. He's not much of a base stealer anymore, but they could just put him down in the lineup with Roberts in place.

My only reservation would be that Pearce would probably have to go - and watching him play, I'm not sure that would be a wise idea. Right now Pearce seems to be a plus defender and potential power bat with a good eye.
The Yanks may have had the solution to their LF issues sitting in AAA all along and failed to recognize it.

Soriano has a negative WAR on defense since his first year in Chicago in 2007, so his defense at this point of his career totally negates the plus offense he would bring. The point of adding Soriano would be to get Garza without having to give up a solid prospect in return. I agree this trade would be much more interesting if the team hadnt signed Pearce. I also wonder who the better player is right now.

You and I are looking at different places, then...

he has only pulled a negative UZR one season, and he's been well above average several seasons according to the above link.

What would be the asking price for Garza and Dempster?
