Default WaPo: skip the falsehoods and give us a plan

Political columnists are not half as influential as they used to be. The internet has seen to that. But Dana Milbank of the Washington Post is always a good bellweather for how Obama is playing on the left, and his column today is a scorcher aimed at President Obama.

Milbank didn't mince any words when writing about the president's speech yesterday:

Obama has a plan. The republicans in the senate refuse to pass it or any part of it until after the election.

I like Dana Milbank but he's a little off base here. The average voter doesn't care about our long-term debt problem. Obama is right to focus on the economy, not long-term debt...

I hope not. I can only imagine the pain had they given him carte blanche.

Anytime you think that the pubbies will be willing to compromise now or in the future go look at a picture of Mitch McConnell. That face of hatred should dis-persuade you of the notion.

Which part of Obama's plan specifically do you like that the House will not pass and why do you think it would be good for America?

I think that the Jobs bill that was blocked merely for the sake of blocking it would have been good for America

Is this part of your hero's plan?

Sounds like his 'plan' is to hand the US over to corporations and allow outside organizations to place trade sanctions on the US because (for example) we don't advertise cigarettes to children (see link).

Just like 0 said. "he won" And what was that thing about sitting in the back of the bus?

The American People are under no obligation to make him look good at their own expense.

They will a little bit because Obama and the republicans do share some stuff they agree on, like an extension of payroll tax cut. However, the republicans won't agree to extend the payroll tax cut until after the election.

I personally worry about the payroll tax cut extension because it really is adding to the debt. 100 percent of it in fact is adding to the debt.

This could backfire on the GOP. If Obama loses you know the Bush tax cuts are DEAD. And the new Congress will stop the tax cuts for the rich. Only need 41 Dems in the Senate for gridlock.
