Soriano sucks, I would be really disappointed if he comes here. I don't care if he hits 20something home runs, he costs way too much, is old, and between home runs he does spectacular things like not get on base.

    OBP:
    '09 .303
    '10 .322
    '11 .289
    '12 .315

    No thanks.

He'd likely be a bench player, but I'm fine with that to get Garza.

Won't happen. If either is shipped out to the ALE figure it'll be to NYY or BOS.

Yeah a bench player with a $18 million salary.... As for Garza he is a bit overrated, but he would sure up the rotation a good bit.

that's the thing to remember. he will still be an upgrade for the O's rotation. Hunter isn't reliable enough for a team with post season aspirations.

Never was much of a Soriano fan but the fact that he could be a nice backup if Roberts were to go down is rather apealing. Watched Garza pitch a lot while he was here in Tampa. Would be a great upgrade for the O's

Then the Cubs better pay 3/4 of his salary.

2005 was the last time he regularly played 2B, since then he's played 3.2 innings there.

but will Theo be happy with that.

I think the Cubs will ask for more in return if they pay for that much of his salary.

it's a tough decision to make for DD. it sounds like the Cubs are offering a good pitcher if you eat the salary of their big expense who is now costing more than his production on the field warrents. if the O's want financial compensation, I'm sure they'll need to open the stable and let Theo take a few more ponies.

taking on salary is an ideal trade scenario for the O's, because they have more money than trade chips.

Garza would be a plus, but Soriano is a mix of Pie and Reynolds on defense and another all or nothing offensive threat....

    Garza yes, Soriano, no!

True but if they give up very little to get Gaza as long as they take Sorinao its a great move. Who/healthy on the roster is better option in LF?

    Right now? Pearce.

You really think a dead spot in left field for the next 2.5 years is worth a #2.5 starter?

good question and points out why this team may not be as good as it appears. In OPACY, he's proably not that much of a liability due to the size of LF. On the road in bigger parks, he's a not the answer. There may be better options out there. If taking on Soriano is a condition of getting Garza, might have to pass on both. Trading at this time of the year is so you can get better, adding Garza is a definite positive, adding Soriano is a definite negative creating what essentially is a wash...

Pearce really showed it by misplaying that fly ball that opened the flood gates last night
