    Default Wizards wheeling and dealing

Send R Lewis and 46th pick to NO for Okafor and Ariza. Allows Wiz to amnesty Blatche, improve the D, have 2 nice contracts come off the books in 2 years and probably means Beal is the guy at #3.

I kinda like this trade myself, but man alot of pundits and wiz fans alike hate this trade, the guy for espn, i think it was hollinger, said ernie has suceeded in making a team better, to bad it's minnesota and new orleans he is making better. It's not like these guys are ancient and you get rid of lewis who is overpaid and hurt, and you still have the second pick in the second round, so what's not to like. Not a perfect fit, but I think at this point I'd rather have Barnes, I just think he will explode once he comes to the NBA.

Saw Hollinger's article and his overall hatred of Grunfeld is well founded. But I don't get the problem with this trade, if the Wiz buy Lewis out they only get about 3 mil in cap relief. This makes the team better and gives cap relief in 2 years and they need to put a decent product out to keep Wall happy otherwise he's bolting the 1st chance he gets.

The problem is, people think unless it's some blockbuster trade, it can't be a success. Who do they think they could get for a late pick and the second highest paid player in the nba, who doesn't play. I didn't want ernie back, but he has made some good deals to, Seraphin is looking like a great deal. I really wanted robinson, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen now, I don't want beal, maybe there is another deal in the works, who knows, I think they will get a decent player with the 2nd pick to. Maybe we trade back.

Just don't pick MKG, if they pick him they will be able to rebuild chinatown with alot Kentucky bricks..

I agree, MKG cannot shoot. I like the trade the Wizards made. It sures up there frontcourt with Okafor, Nene and Ariza. Gets more experience in the locker room. The only deal I have not liked recently was getting rid of Nick Young. His scoring off the bench is valuable. I think the Wiz take Beal if he is still there. Robinson is kind of small at 6'8" and I was never a fan of Barnes and his constant jump shooting.

Very differing opinions. Hollinger says Beal would be terrible pick. Should take MKG. As for this deal it's basically the Wiz admitting that nobody was taking their money these 2 years and this is the only way to get better. Can't keep finishing in top 5 in the lottery without risking Wall bolting. Problem is these deals at best make us a mediocre team which is why Hollinger and others are killing it. Just a bad position to be in.

I don't have much of a preference between MKG and Beal, but I just hope we get one or the other. Kidd-Gilchrist can't really shoot, but shooting isn't the only aspect of a basketball game. If it was, JR Smith would be one of the best players in the game. MKG is better at every other aspect of basketball than Beal except shooting (any maybe ball handling), and he's only 18 years old, which gives him more than enough time with his work ethic to develop a jumper. The dude goes to tears every time his team loses (which isn't often). That's the kind of competitor the Wizards need.

Not taking away from Beal either though, as he's no slouch. I still haven't made up my mind which one I'd rather have. I just hope the acquisition of Trevor Ariza doesn't rule out Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

In regards to the trade, I'm pretty neutral on it. It makes us an easily better team now, and in addition to our draft pick I think we'll make a run at the playoffs. However we lose the cap flexibility that limits our ceiling as a team until 2014 when Okafor and Ariza come off the books.

The front court kind of reminds me of the restaurant with the 10 page menu, but nothing really stands out as good to eat. The log jam of Okafor, Nene, Seraphin, Booker, and Vesely could pose as a problem trying to develop the younger guys by limiting their minutes.
