Do you think that good performances/ratings at combines like National Underclassman Combine translate to on-field success? How much credibility do these combines have?

I don't think that it necessarily translate to the field. Some kids are combine warriors because they are great athletes. But does that mean they can hit? Do they have the heart to go across the middle? Do they have rear technique between the tackles? I can name many kids that are amazing in shorts and t-shirts but don't bring it on the field every week.
to be honest..when my son was doing the combines i only had him do 2 just so he could get a feel for the caliber of athletes that exist and also just to prepare him for the kinds of drills(40 yrd. dash, shuttle, verticle etc.)that he would have to do at the college 1 day camps where it really would matter since he would be in front of actual college coaches...i found that at most combines the kids who got most of the exposure and write ups were the "known" kids...i think some make an effort to highlight some sleeper but unless you rip off a 4.3 40 or a 39 inch verticle..many times you are there just to see what your measureables are and how they rate vs. others..i agree that combine performences really can't determine how a kid is going to play when the hittin starts...it does help to run that 4.4 though..lol
