This was a great tournament with 32 teams competing including MSJ, Dunbar, Friendship, and St Johns from this area as well as Lake Braddock and St Josephs Prep out of VA and PA. The surprise of the tournament was that GC's younger squad made up of their rising sophs and juniors went 5-0 in bracket play beating St. Joseph Prep., South River, Blake, Dunbar and Lake Braddock and made it to the championship game and almost upset Friendship but lost 23-21. GC's varsity starters went 5-0 as well but missed out on the playoffs because Westminster who was in their bracket and also 5-0 outscored them overall in total points to take that bracket. GC's younger squad upset Westminster in the semis then almost pulled it out vs Friendship after being down at one point 17-0. It was great to see the GC varsity superstars on the sidelines cheering on and encouraging the younger guys. A great day to be a part of the GC football family.
