Default Introducing . . . our new taxes!

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...,4423179.story

Tax increase: The new rates affect individuals making more than $100,000 and families making more than $150,000. The measure, projected to raise $250 million, lifts rates on about 14 percent of Marylanders by one-quarter to three-quarters of a percentage point, while also phasing out personal exemptions.

The change is retroactive to January, meaning that some people accustomed to getting a tax refund will owe taxes next year. The comptroller's office is waiving fines if filers miscalculated estimated taxes owed, though that may be small consolation to those accustomed to getting money back.

John "Skip" Sullivan, a certified public accountant in Columbia, predicted that "procrastinators" who tend to file near the April 15 deadline will get a shock when they realize how much they owe. "The warning should go out to them," he said."

    Retroactive?? Seriously??

Oh. That's right. If you earn $100,000 in MD, not a cheap state to live in by far, you are wealthy.

That is absurd. But if you make $99k a year then you must assume that person is broke right?

Think this is bad? Wait until Obamacare really kicks in. Many that are already paying big bucks for healthcare insurance won't be able to afford the increases passed on by the health insurers, let alone all the people who work for small businesses that will no longer receive insurance through their employers.

Your not rolling in dollar bills either if you live in a half decent abode and drive just a normal 25k car.

But yes, because pukes who chose not to better themselves so they too can earn a decent wage need money from the producers, so what the hell tax them out of state, lol.

Income taxes, property taxes, saving for retirement, saving for college, home improvements, vehicles, car insurance, mortgage, utilities, clothing, food, and on and on and on.

I don't think that it's a stretch to say that someone earning $100,000/year is not only paying more into the public coffers but also contributing more to the for-profit sector and non-profit sector than is someone earning $40,000. Not that I'm knocking a person for that salary but give me a break. Who are you to tell someone what they can and can't afford to hand over to the public coffers?

Well, it covers the tax year from Jan 1st to Dec 31st, 2012--- I mentioned that before, people who left their state witholding amount at 2011 level were going to get real sticker shock come next tax filing season.
