He would help us. I'd be surprised to see Buck go along with it knowing his distaste for having one dimensional DH's. This team needs a lot of help on offense. Thome would be a start

    Garza would help more.

Have you taken a look at the O's starting pitcher's ERA lately ?

    Yikes. I mean, seriously, yikes.

O's need a lot of help. Getting Thome doesn't stop us from Garza or anybody else. Our lack of talent in the system will stop us from getting Garza

You want me to have to constantly type Orioles? No thanks. I'm an O's fan that is critical when they deserve it and applauds when they deserve it, thus I'm the AntiMoon who thinks the O's 14 yr run of crap is bad luck. BTW, Roch says the deal should be announced once the O's game ends

Roch says, deal to be annouced after today's game!

The Orioles are close to completing a trade for a hitter, according to a source outside the organization, and speculation centers on veteran Jim Thome, who isn't in the Phillies lineup today.
No one with the Orioles will confirm that a deal is in place, but an announcement is expected following today's game against the Indians at Camden Yards.
Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia is reporting that the Orioles and Phillies are engaged in serious talks involving Thome. It appears that an agreement has been reached, according to a source.
Thome, 41, is hitting .242/.338/.516 with two doubles, five homers and 15 RBIs in 62 at-bats. He's started four games at first base, but is viewed as a designated hitter who would provide some pop to a sluggish offense.
Thome has hit 609 career home runs for five teams during a 22-year career.
It's not known who would be headed to Philadelphia in the deal, but it's not believed to be anyone playing in today's game.

I want you to take the extra second to hit the "qoute" button. So it can be clear who you are responding to.

I like your logic. And your outlook. You are quite sensible.

But you are NOT the anti-Moon.

The Moon thinks that the O's can do no wrong.

Anti Moon also means I hate Moon. A true Antimoon in every sense would be Ghost Oriole. I concede that.

Figures that a team with 4 DHs already would trade for a 4th. Terrible trade. Smacks of 2005, when they did jack to help the team at that deadline too, other than trade Bigbie for Byrnes.

    Done deal according to Rosenthal

    https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/st...88799933128704
Source: ‪#Orioles‬ acquire Thome. Deal to be announced after ‪#Phillies‬’ and O’s games are complete.

Oh, can Thome pitch? Sheesh.... It's always the sign of a horrible team when they acquire some washed up scrub simply because the guy pounded your own crappy pitching. This is on a par with getting Sammy Sosa.

The 2 worst were getting K Moreland for the 89 stretch run and C Lefferts in 92

It's worse. Sosa was at least had at the beginning of the season.

This is a joke. And I say that as someone who loved Thome throughout his career.

Thome would be a great get. Ten years ago.

This is going to be a horrible trade I'm afraid.
