I'm talking about pennant race deals. Glenn was in the offseason and it was a good deal at the time. Best power hitting 1B in the National league in his prime for 1 really good prospect and 2 avg prospects. Would have been like us trading Tillman,Berken and Reimold 4 years ago for P Fielder
Simon and Lino!? Wow a lot of Lino lovers are going to be mad about this
You have to think if we got Thome then we we gave up VERY little in return.
It's official.. Thome for 2 minor leaguers.. Probably Hoes and Machado. LMAO!
Simon and Lino. Lots of O's fans love Lino others think he's a non prospect. We'll find out who's right. O's DFA Z Phillips
I'm no Lino fan but the goobers in the O's blogosphere say he's a 19 yr old with tools and a big upside. Duquette speaks "We've been working on this deal for a week. Had to improve the lineup against righties and he's a great leader and teammate"
Don't like this trade one bit. Have a hard time believing Lino's trade value is Jim Thome
He's a power hitter....power hitters don't generally hit for average.
And when you write "5 homers 15 rbi," so blase-ly you make it sound as if you were not aware that he is a pinch hitter right now for Philly, and has only played in 30 games. He'd be playing a lot more than that for the Orioles.....5 HR and 15 RBI over 30 games = a home run every 6 games, an RBI every other game. Extrapolate that out over the course of a full season, and they are pretty good numbers, which I'll take for a DH right now. Maybe you see someone else on this team for the DH role who would be good for 27 HR and 81 RBI....?
Oh yeah, you forgot a stat; .854 OPS.........that's good enough to be better than anybody else on the whole team, with the exception of Adam Jones' .889.
K Law weighs in; what's the upside on the 2 guys philly got? "very very low"
