Scott Miller CBS sportsline: Score one for Duquette, O's malnourished offense gets much needed help.

I like the deal. I mean comon guys, does anyone here honestly believe that Lino is going to become anything for us? Get real...we need Major League players, and DD went out and got one. Granted, he can only DH, but with the way our offense has been lately (plus the way Thome hit in Interleague games this year), I think a veteran power guy is exactly what this team needs. Screw it...we didn't lose anything with this deal, so I'm all for it (and like I said, if you think Lino is "something," then I feel for you...).

Shame we didn't get Thome 10-12 years ago. The guy has hit 18 HR's here as a visiting player and seems to love hitting in our park. Would have been nice to see him hitting balls out onto the flag court on a regular basis.

It would have been nice to see him in our cleanup spot those years when we were laughing at Kevin Millar (sans the Moonie, of course)

And when you write "5 homers 15 rbi," so blase-ly you make it sound as if you were not aware that he is a pinch hitter right now for Philly, and has only played in 30 games. He'd be playing a lot more than that for the Orioles.....
This is the same Thome that hit 15 homers in almost 500 ABs in the AL last year? Luckily we didn't give up much

Unfortunately for you.....the way things have been going of late.....you will likely wind up having to flip him in about a month or so. Such as life as a pretender. (And even thats generous.)

If anything, it'll be fun to watch Thome hit homers in the home run paradise that is Camden Yards.

Let's put it this way....of all the people getting upset about this trade....how many of them ever even HEARD of the names "Kyle Simon" and "Gabriel Lino" before news of this trade broke...? Worse, the people bemoaning the trade are generally the sort of people who sit around and complain about how aside from Bundy and Machado (the two minor league names of ours they know) our farm system is "barren".

Well, if it's barren, we did pretty good on the trade, imo.

Where do you get "almost 500 ABs"....try 277 ABs (in what world is 277 "almost" 500....?)

    Also, this Thome's 2011 OPS = .838
Not too bad for 40 year old DH....

What's his OPS been since he's been an Oriole?

Might be time cut bait already. How motivated can be be on a team going nowhere fast? That ship.....she's a-sinking.....

Why are you so obsessed with the Orioles and Ravens?
