    Default tommy hunter...

Why is this bum still on the roster? I mean what kind of inept management does this team have not to be able to see that? Also Tillman should get another shot and if this team is thinking about going after Garza NOW bc if they wait too much longer I feel it will be too late. If this team goes under the .500 mark....its over.

It was over when 3/5 of the starting rotation decided that being league average was something they couldn't do.

I agree with the sentiments concerning Hunter. The guy just can't pitch. And Eveland? Come on Dan, I know you can do better than that. We need pitching and you go out and get a 41 year old dude who used to be. This team is starting to frustrate me again.

I don't follow the schedules of the Tides starters, so I'm not sure if Tillman or Gonzalez would have been available to start for the O's today, but damn, we essentially conceded the loss the second we send the duo of Eveland/Hunter to the mound. It absolutely blows my mind that those two were the best options we had...and to think Earl had to watch that mess today. What a f****** joke...

That's the question. Right now, there is no one better unless they do a radical move and go with Bundy.

In evaluating the O's you have to look for logical explanations when guys like Buck and DD are running the show. Each is a proven commodity.

Tillman is doing well enough at Norfolk to have some trade value. If he comes up and flops (do to the high pitch counts of yore) his value plummets. If Matusz could string together two decent starts in a row maybe he and Tillman together could attract a Garza type but that guy is going to attract many offers. Berken is in a similar boat. Johnson would be better fill in for the one or two open spots leading up to the break if he's healthy. Please no more Eveland in the rotation.

You have to believe the O's have stuck with Hunter this long because of the open dates on the schedule and the desire to avoid roster moves until after the AS break. I am hopeful we will see at least five and as many as eight guys jettisoned by mid-July if DD really is sincere in his comments about competing for playoffs. Hunter was first. Matusz, Eveland, Gregg, Avery, Flaherty, Pearce and Reynolds are the others who don't belong on a playoff calibre team in 2012.

Regardless, in the spirit of addition by subtraction, this team could accomplish much by dumping their two big contract lemons. It speaks volumes about a winning intent if you just admit Gregg and Reynolds are busts and pay them off to walk away.
