Florida lieutenant governor accused of lesbian affair

A Latina aide to the lieutenant governor of Florida has been caught up in a sex scandal involving her boss. A former employee of Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll claims the Sunshine State’s second in command had a tryst with top aide Beatriz Ramos, and even caught them in a “compromising position” inside Carroll’s office.

The lieutenant governor denies the allegations, which were included in a court filing made late last week by the attorney representing former top aide Carletha Cole. Cole was arrested last October on charges that she gave an illegally taped conversation with another Carroll aide to a newspaper reporter.

This news also breaks during the same week that Lt. Gov. Carroll gained national attention for her support of Mitt Romney.

If Jennifer Carroll felt flustered by a former aide's accusation of office sexcapades, you couldn't tell by the polished performance she gave Thursday morning on CNN.

Florida's lieutenant governor -- in defense of Mitt Romney -- looked poised and radiant, sounded articulate and gracious.

So it struck me as a little premature to join this wake of buzzards in Tallahassee, licking their chops and circling Carroll as if she were this week's blue plate special.

Political dirty tricks or bad timing? I'm leaning more to the latter.

Interesting. Her claims don't seem to help her legal predicament. A lit cigar in a trash can probably wouldn't excuse her from illegally recording conversations. Then again, I guess I would make up some wild stories as well if I were being charged with a felony that could result in my incarceration for an extended period of time especially if I had no defense otherwise.
