    Default This team is done.

They are simply dead. They don't seem to want to play. They can't beat one of the worst teams in the league. This is not the same team as we saw in the first half. We swept this team the first 3 games, but this is the same Orioles of old. Sorry folks, but that's reality.

Are you really surprised? I'm not. I said before the season started the roster wasn't built to compete. I give them props for playing above their heads in the 1st half though

Will the Orioles ever address the need for 1B and 3B? It sure would be nice to have these positions covered by players who actually play the position. The revolving cast characters isn't getting it done will all of the errors.

    They're not done!

That said, they appear to be on respirators!

If I'm the manager, I put Tolleson on 3rd and Flarerty on 2nd and tell them both to catch whatever is hit to them and that it's their's for the rest of the year.

1b is an adventure. I'd have Chris Davis there and play Chavez in LF until we can make a deal by 7/31.

While Reynolds is here, he dh's or PH's with Betemit.

Honestly? Do you want my opinion? They were done April 6....despite the improbably lucky start.

Where's good old Hector? He dismissed my 68 W prediction out of hand early on.....but I wonder if he's now willing to emend his own 95 W (HAHAHA!) prediction. I have an idea of who's going to be closer to being right.

The answer to that second question is a pretty universal "no".

In the span of a month they've gone from 2.5 back to 10 games back. Stay tuned

the real problem is that they are falling behind more and more teams for one of the WC slots. so while they are only 1/2 out of the WC, they're now 3-4 teams behind in the WC. historically speaking, it's a huge challenge to leapfrog over that many teams. to compound the issue, the O's are trending downward while Bos is surging upward.

the O's are losing key players while Boston has key players returning. and Boston has the ways, means and organizational philosophy to bolster their teams for playoff runs. The O's don't have the chips or an owner willing to spend.

    those are significant obstacles.

It certainly wouldn't surprise me. Oakland is mixed in there though I believe.

You're right, how did I miss those 3 games when I looked at the schedule. I have to admit though , I'm not all that worried about a AL West team. We're facing the team right behind us and the team in front of us. That's what I call baseball

You mean an AL West team that just completed a 4 game sweep of the Yankees and is one of the hottest teams in baseball?

he's being supportive and positive about the O's. in the other thread you busted his chops for not being confident and "moving the goal post". now you're ripping him for being confident in the O's?

    what gives?

    Really?

Sounded more like dismissive of the A's to me.

I just don't see the logic in dismissing a team that just swept the #1 team in baseball and is on a hot streak. Or dismissing the AL West in general, considering they have the Rangers and Angels.

The A's right now are more threatening than the Rays are.

Yup. AL West teams don't scare me. I thought I typed that in plain enough English that even my 9 year old could read it. Maybe I shouldn't assume you read as well as a 9 year old
