O'Malley Launches Federal PAC ~ Presidential run in the future?

In a sign of lofty national ambitions, Gov. Martin O'Malley has created a federal political action committee that could become the main financial vehicle for a presidential run in 2016.

O'Malley spokesman Rick Abbruzzese confirmed Thursday that O'Malley has put in the papers to register what is being called the O Say Can You See PAC with the Federal Election Commission. The PAC gives the governor a federal political vehicle for spending on races at both the national and state level.

Creation of the PAC was first reported Wednesday in the Washington publication Roll Call. In the modern political era, such a committee is practically a prerequisite for a candidate to launch a presidential campaign.

I dislike (I swore the day he forced the distinguished police commander out for an un-PC memo that I would never ever vote for him) and disagree with O'Malley (on everything he does or stands for). That said, I don't see why a person like him shouldn't have presidential aspirations (even though I feel that he makes decisions detrimental to our state in order to position himself nationally). It's what ambitious politicians do (that and the skeezy fundraising through the governors' club and now his PAC which I'm sure will be equally slimy). Unlike others on this thread, I expect him to be successful at it, if not as president as VP or secretary of something. He is a perfect Democratic candidate, good looking and full of crap, style over substance, feelings over reason, good on TV, managing his office in perpetual campaign mode, offering all kinds of giveaways we cannot afford to pander to the weak-minded voters - really quite a lot like our current POTUS in fact. I think he's a natural.
