Exclamation Leopold appoints former chief to serve as new police chief in AA

County Exec Leopold has appointed Larry Tolliver (a former chief of the police department) to re-claim his position and take over the beleaguered department from Teare who is retiring at the end of the month.

so much for the first female chief and national search. Not much difference imho between Teare & Tolliver, another yes- man for Leopold.

There is a huge difference between Teare and Tolliver....one that begins with morale. Tolliver may not be perfect, but he is a patrolman's chief. The people NOT to blame in this Leopold scandal are the patrolmen and patrol supervisors. Yet, they are the ones who have had to face the public and face the ridicule from the disgrace of this department. Their morale is weak and Tolliver will change that.

You're right, i've interacted with Chief Tolliver at various times in my career and found him to be as you say-- I Guess I was a little brash- I Guess I was thinking he rose mostly via politics, but that doesn't automatically make him a bad administrator. Good to see you back here. Chief Teare I never met, know nothing abiut him excpet what I read in the papers.
Still, seems a little shabby to tell someone they are going to be Chief, even acting, then take it away, didn't they do the same thing with some Sgt.;s recently?

Long time no see. Welcome back.

As usual I disagree. I think the public has been overwhelmingly supportive of the officers in this. The backlash in this has been directed at Teare and Leopold. Hell, even I feel sorry for them in what they had to put up with from those two.
