It would be disingenuous for me to say that Israel has no strategic value to the United States but Israel's value is little and diminishing.

As far as military strategic value Turkey is by far the the most strategically valuable to the United States if for no other reason that it controls the Dardanelles through which Russia has to travel to get its Baltic Fleet to warm water ports.

On the economic front, Israel pales into insignificance relative the economic value of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Oil States.
But, the American People share a common belief set with the people in Israel, you know freedom, self determination and prosperity. For that reason alone we owe Israel our support.

We have nothing in common, and have nothing to gain by associating ourselves with Muslim nations. Except for some strategic benefits which are rapidly evaporating.

Adelson was funding Gingrich because Gingrich agreed that he would move the American Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and in doing so add American backing to Israel for Jerusalem to be the undisputed Capital of Israel and put a big dent in any Palestinian claims to part of the city. And of course derail any peace talks between the two sides.

Romney did Adelson's bidding and for doing that Adelson will switch his untold billions of Dollars behind Romney now plus encourage Gingrich and his supporters to do the same.

This has been just a fundraising trip for Romney to get foreign money and backers involved in the American Presidential race on his side. Romney has sold his soul!
The worst part of this is that the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital is a carrot to be given to Israel upon completion of the two state solution. Romney wants to give them that carrot without them having to do anything for it. That fit's Netanyahu's plans fine. All his plans involve Israel gaining everything and giving nothing. Netanyahu, Adelson and Romney are being clever in sabotaging the Peace Negotiations by giving Israel their carrot without having to earn it. But there is a down side to that. Since Romney wants to give it all away. In future negotiations since we nolonger have the carrot that only leaves us with the stick. Like going to the UN Security Council to pass a resolution that declared the settlements Illegal and gives Israel one week to evacuate before an International coalition comes in to force out any Israeli's refusing to leave. It's funny how we want law and order everywhere in the Middle East EXCEPT Israel.

"The worst part" my friend is that regardless of who you are you don't go to foreign soil and publicly speak against current American Foreign Policy period, let alone to do so in an effort to garner foreign support and money for your own political aspirations. This is not a Democrat or Republican tradition it is an American tradition!

What Romney wants to say on American soil to an American audience is up to him and fair game but what he says on Foreign soil to a foreign audience, if it goes against present Administration policy is just plain wrong.

Before leaving London in numerous interviews and in full damage control, Romney repeatedly avoided answering questions on his foreign policy stating exactly what I have said that he could not opine against current Administration policy while on foreign soil. The minute he stepped foot in Israel because he was there to raise money for his campaign he did the complete opposite and started running his mouth. Romney is not fit to be President of the United States.

Really? Then you must have been fast asleep or more likely in denial about the criticism obama,, the candidate, was leveling at Bush when obama, was campaiging in GERMANY in 2008. Just forget that little scene. Im still waitin g for an answer to a question I asked you before abou Mr. Gardiner and the comments he made about obama's miserable relations with Her Majesty' s government: what did Mr. Gardiner say that was not accurate?

Israel has the carrot, they own it.
They simply don't want to give the carrot away, as there is only one carrot.

The Palestinians can grow their own carrot, but they are too busy building rockets and living off the welfare payments of nitwit Europeans and Americans.

Maybe that is that cultural difference that Mitt was talking about? Creation vs destruction.

Are you a living in a cave? Those traditions you so fondly recall are from a different era, bFT.

As we are in the FT transition period our traditions went out the door when 0 went on his apology tour and was bowing to our self professed enemies.

Mitt, simply gave some advance warning that 0's foreign policy disaster is understood and will be reversed. The American People don't owe anything to 0 and his fellow travelers.

He gave the hostile press something to chew on to keep them busy. The real conversations were taking place out of view.

Romney is not fit to be President of the United States.
0 is in his bus going in the wrong direction. The American People gotten off a while ago and are making provisions for their own bus.

That bus is heading towards freedom, self determination and prosperity.
