It would be disingenuous for me to say that Israel has no strategic value to the United States but Israel's value is little and diminishing.

As far as military strategic value Turkey is by far the the most strategically valuable to the United States if for no other reason that it controls the Dardanelles through which Russia has to travel to get its Baltic Fleet to warm water ports.

On the economic front, Israel pales into insignificance relative the economic value of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Oil States.

But, the American People share a common belief set with the people in Israel, you know freedom, self determination and prosperity. For that reason alone we owe Israel our support.

We have nothing in common, and have nothing to gain by associating ourselves with Muslim nations. Except for some strategic benefits which are rapidly evaporating.

Mitt Romney was caving in to Netanyahu but not just to undermine President Obama and current American Foreign Policy he was there at the bidding of Sheldon Adelson the Israel Firster Las Vegas Billionaire that was previously singlehandedly funding Newt Gingrich.

Adelson was funding Gingrich because Gingrich agreed that he would move the American Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and in doing so add American backing to Israel for Jerusalem to be the undisputed Capital of Israel and put a big dent in any Palestinian claims to part of the city. And of course derail any peace talks between the two sides.

Romney did Adelson's bidding and for doing that Adelson will switch his untold billions of Dollars behind Romney now plus encourage Gingrich and his supporters to do the same.

This has been just a fundraising trip for Romney to get foreign money and backers involved in the American Presidential race on his side. Romney has sold his soul!

The worst part of this is that the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital is a carrot to be given to Israel upon completion of the two state solution. Romney wants to give them that carrot without them having to do anything for it. That fit's Netanyahu's plans fine. All his plans involve Israel gaining everything and giving nothing. They simply don't want to give the carrot away, as there is only one carrot.

The Palestinians can grow their own carrot, but they are too busy building rockets and living off the welfare payments of nitwit Europeans and Americans.

He gave the hostile press something to chew on to keep them busy. The real conversations were taking place out of view.
