Default Jonathan Schoop for Joe Blanton?

The mark of a winning organization is made from ownership down thru front office to the players. (See My Ravens) .

On the field, the Orioles are overachieving. They're not this good but they're here. Now do they have the owner and front office to make smart decisions to take them to the next level.

It remains to be seen when they're attached to some horrible potential trades.

I'm against this trade. Blanton is only so-so in the National League.

That's like giving Schoop away for free for an older Tommy Hunter.

Yeah that could possibly be the dumbest trade ever made. If the Phillies want Schoop it'll probably have to start with Hunter Pence

Evidently the phillies didn't expect a real prospect but they expected the orioles to pay blanton's salary. The orioles being the cheapskates that they are wanted the phillies to pay his salary so the phillies said we would pay his salary if you give us a real prospect.

I don't like blanton but you have to either pick up the players salary or trade prospects. You aren't getting players for free. Same old orioles. This is why they haven't made any trades.

I wouldn't trade Jonathan Winters for Joe Blanton right now, even if the Phillies paid his entire salary. Just doesn't strike me as a likely improvement. They've already lucked out with one 5.00 ERA pitcher having a turn-around season (Hammel)... what are the odds of a guy with a 4.75 NL ERA over the last three years, who leads the NL in HRs allowed this season, coming to the AL East and being a "plus" pitcher in August and September?

The only Blanton I want is the bourbon.

Thia guy has been called a "home run machine". he's a fly ball pitcher. that's not a good match with OPACY.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday that the Phillies were targeting infielder Jonathan Schoop in a deal with the Orioles. But it seems highly improbable that the Orioles would include the 20-year-old Schoop, who was the organization's 2011 Brooks Robinson Player of the Year, in such a swap.

The Orioles are declining to trade Schoop for Blanton, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports (on Twitter). The teams are deep in negotiations, Connolly writes. Five to seven teams, including the Blue Jays, have showed interest in Blanton, according to Connolly.

I don't understand the thinking here. Blanton isn't much better than what the O's have. but if you see him as an upgrade (even if it's only a slight upgrade), and all you have to give up is money, then do it.

for all the excitement about this season, the truth still lurks just below the surface. PGA doesn't like to part with his money.

Complaining about something that hasn't and may not even happen...yup, you are a Ravens fan alright.

Blanton would be a upgrade over Hunter. But only saying upgrade if you dont have to give up much besides cash to get it done.

The only way Schoop gets included in any deal with Philadelphia is if DD kills two birds with one stone by including a Major League hitter from Philadelphia's roster in the deal to fill another need. Then such a deal might make sense.
