Under Bush and Cheney we did that too. But I don't see any advantage to the confessor. They will either be tortured to death or hanged for their confession. At least without confessing they die with their honor and reputation in tact. But I do realize that people will say anything to make the pain stop. So I guess it would be more proper to say I don't see any long term advantage to the confessor. There is still the element of going from frying pan to firing squad by confessing.
Doesn't everyone think badly of Americans?
On the one hand, Muslims are killing Muslims for various "religious" reasons. On the other, Americans are killing Americans for stepping on the wrong block or selling drugs where they shouldn't be or whatever. Both stupid and terrible.
Ain't humanity grand?
They can be the victim of things and in this case their scientists were the victims of unjustified and unlawful aggression, probably at the hands of the Israeli government. That doesn't mean I think these "confessions" are necessarily credible. The two views are by no means mutually exclusive.
