Buck has to say that. Build Reynolds up and hope he gets hot. Plus defensively his play at first is OK to me.

And yet we held on tight, finished 12-14 for the month, and are still in it.

    This team doesn't quit.

Resign Mark and have him play first. His defense has been a shocking surprise.

    Ha! Reynolds showed me.

8 in seven games qualifies I think.

    BUCKle UP!

Buck had been saying all season how hard Reynolds had been working both on D and in the batting cage, and he frequently is saying how he likes to see hard work rewarded. Both he and Reynolds have to be feeling pretty good right about now.

I'd like to keep him...but not at that price.

BTW- FA class migth be pretty weak this offseason.

Structure a deal to keep him. I like what he's doing at 1B.

He is easily worth $11 million next year. Pick up that option.

His defense has been excellent at 1B and the first half of this season is an anomaly for his career. No reason to think that he can't hit 40 HR again next season.

on one of these threads, someone posted the salaries for 1st basemen. $11M isn't as outlandish as it sounds. especially if the upcoming FA class is a weak as folks have been saying.

that coupled with the possibility that his comfort and success at 1B is what's leading to his bat waking up, then I can support his staying and possibly being extended.

I've done a total 180 on this subject over the last couple of weeks. I'm not letting his recent offense make me forget what he was like for the rest of the season. but most of my frustration with him came from his defense. that's no longer a problem now that he's moved from 3B.

his K's are still horrible. but his hits are coming in key situation now. that didn't seem to be the case last year and the first half of this year.

I think a lot depends upon how he finishes up.

Who's the real mark Reynolds ???

The one from the first 4 mos. or the guy who is playing out of his mind ???

    Hopefully it's B.

I couldn't agree more. Boston needs someone at 1B (or did they get a replacement in one of their trades?), and they will be anxious to rebuild to compete in '13

Look at his career and tell me if the Reynolds from earlier this year is the "real" Reynolds.

I said that in one of the other threads. His first half was definitely an anomoly if you look at his career numbers. I don't think he's going to be as cheap as some people think because of that 1st half. Remember all the "Adam Dunn is done" comments in 2011, now he's back to his normal career average in homers. If you don't keep him, who do you replace him with?
