Default Papa John's and Denny's & Obamacare: wha' ha' happened...

That's right, they take it back

    link
“Many in the media reported that I said Papa John’s is going to close stores and cut jobs because of Obamacare,” he wrote in a blog post. “I never said that. The fact is we are going to open over hundreds of stores this year and next and increase employment by over 5,000 jobs worldwide. And, we have no plans to cut team hours as a result of the Affordable Care Act.”
I read threads on this forum quoting the very words he said you "misunderstood". You didn't misunderstand. He was talking [deleted]! He LIED.

Rightites... you were lied to.... AGAIN!!

The "GOP Mouthers" lie and lie and lie and lie. But you keep falling for it.

Stop already. Follow G.W. Bush's lead...

Its called Foot-in-Mouth-disease. On another note why even come out and make stupid comments and then backtrack, silly rabbits. I heard the food at either place isn't all that good anyway. And food joints are everywhere.

Didn't you get enough mileage out of the Denny's thread you started that is the exact same subject, except now you added Papa Johns?

Please explain to me how Obamacare is NOT going to cause layoffs and suppress new hires and explain further how Obamacare is not going to cost businesses anything extra.

    I need a good laugh.

Papa John's, before this backtrack, said they'd have to charge an extra $0.11 to $0.14 per pizza so as to NOT cost the business any extra expense.

    Done.

Furthermore, since the backtrack, the CEO has pointed out that even WITH Obamacare they will be expanding in locations, and thus hiring, over the coming years.

    Done again.

To surmise that without Obamacare they may have grown faster, or hired more, is as meaningful as arguing unicorns exist. They may actually grow faster WITH Obamacare than without it, but because we have no parallel universe to compare, we'll never know.

The first statement was honest from Schnatter was honest, the second was the more pulled back and edited statement as not to panic shareholders or potential new franchisees.

I think you misquote the Huffington Post. Your first statement is incorrect. The .11 to .14 cent estimate represents the organization's cost, the effect is a $.15-$.20 increase and this is only the beginning, next year there is scheduled to be another 7% increase. This from a president who promised the middle class that there would be no new taxes. Who do you suppose is Papa John's demographic? Obamacare arbtrarily redefines anyone who works 30 hours or more to be a full time employee. And businesses perform cost forecasts all the time. There are no unicorns inolved. This is all part of the capitalistic system, something that you perhaps might want to be become more acquainted with.

    Source:

Pennsylvania's Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is slashing the hours of 400 adjunct instructors, support staff, and part-time instructors to dodge paying for Obamacare.

"It's kind of a double whammy for us because we are facing a legal requirement [under the new law] to get health care and if the college is reducing our hours, we don't have the money to pay for it," said adjunct biology professor Adam Davis. On Tuesday, CCAC employees were notified that Obamacare defines full-time employees as those working 30 hours or more per week and that on Dec. 31 temporary part-time employees will be cut back to 25 hours. The move will save an estimated $6 million.

That said did their pay get cut or stay the same? I would venture to say they still recieve the same pay per credit they teach and simply got told they had reduced office hours.

Compensation is at the prerogative of the company. Benefits are a part of that. It's what the market will bear.

You want good wages and benefits? Create a successful business environment where businesses compete for employees. Keep driving business away and overseas and see what happens.

That is the paradox. Overseas they can pay less and thus turn more profit. While some American employees will always be needed they If they can make more by sending jobs overseas they will. It is not a function of competitive enviornment unless making a product here is seen as a benefit.
