Right - like Drew Brees. Slightly different economics working there - right? The contracts that Drew and Joe have will be very very different sir. Very different. I think Drew's contract was and is just a bit more complex in terms of cap implications for a team. Please.

Will there be a pre-season doom & gloom thread next year, too?

    Of course there will.

Ouch what? The Ravens WRs STILL drop more balls than true "go to" WRs and TEs should. It happened in the first half of the NE game as well. So no...I wouldn't say "ouch" at all.

He doesn't have a contract right now for a reason.

I'd be real curious to see some stats on that. I imagine all receivers drop balls, I wonder if ours are really worse? I have this idea that some, like Reggie Wayne for example, have exceptionally sticky fingers and if they can touch it they catch it, but I bet even the best have lapses in attention, short arms at times, and just plain occasional stone fingers.

Not disagreeing or agreeing, but it did spark another thought:

In the Denver game, Flacco overthrew Torrey by about a yard down the middle and all we heard was how Flacco "...just can't afford to miss those..."

Well, last Sunday, Brady missed a wide open Welker, but did you hear Simms complaining that Brady "...just can't afford to miss those..."

I guess the "ELITE" QBs get an occasional mulligan! Not Flacco though.

Here's a link to the dropped pass stats as compiled by NBC.....it will come as a shock to those who think the Ravens WR's drop a lot of passes...it will also shock you which WR's have the most drops....

    http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/fb...rank=232&year=

here's one for team stats...interesting to note which team is 31st (or the 2nd most sure handed team in the league)....

    http://hosted.stats.com/fb/tmleaders...iving&rank=232

    Torrey Smith had 3 drops...Boldin had 4...Jones 1....Doss..1

keep in mind this is regular season...

I am one who also thought this was going to be an 8-8 year and no playoffs. I have to say while I was sitting there in Foxboro watching that game end, I was stunned at the fact they are headed back to a SB.

Boldin and Torrey have been sure handed IMO.

    Pitta. Jones too.

    I like our guys.

Joe throws the ball up and they go get it.

You're making the same mistake a lot of people make with Flacco. You're looking at our team through a microcsope and not really comparing us to everyone else. All qb's make mistakes and all receivers drop passes, we're not any worse than anyone else. We just continue to magnify our on faults.

I agree with this post 100%. Welker drops a pass or two, and it's the end of the world. Joe's WRs drop passes all the time, yet it's always Joe's fault. It never ceases to amaze me.

IMO, those stats on "drops" are unrealistic. Just my opinion.

I just report the stats, not gather them....take it up with NBC and Stats Inc....

I have no idea what the defintion of a drop is, but I know what one looks like-- see Jones in the Bronco game and Welker in last week's game...

IMHO, a drop is if the ball hits you in the hands and you don't catch the ball without the intervention of a defender...

Doss's drop of a sure TD pass was NOT counted as a drop, IIRC. But it certainly was a "drop" in my book. That's why I'm not impressed with the stats on drops.
