Default Can anyone define a Republican or Dem

I still say it all depends on whose money is being used. A good person with integrity may wish to do well in DC but somehow their ideology gets lost and no matter what they are, they become dependents of the lobbyist.

    Sure.

Democrat - one who wants bigger spending but is also honest enough to tell you taxes have to be raised to pay for it. Democrats support welfare for the poor.

Republican - one who wants bigger spending but will lie to your face that taxes don't need to be raised to pay for it. Republicans support welfare for the rich.

I recently asked my neighbors’ little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there with her when I asked:

"If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people."

    Her parents beamed with pride.

"Wow…what a worthy goal." I told her, "But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that! You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

I would not give you a cup full of warm cat piss for the difference between the two parties.

Just two crooked groups trying to amass as much power and money as possible.

True, true but in terms of ideology,a Democrat wants the right to legislate equality and a Republican wants the right to earn equality.

A democrat is a politician who only cares about his next election, his legacy, and his rich campaign donors.

How true. That is why my voter's card says "unaffiliated”.

They're largely defined by their party platforms. It's kind of a done deal.

There is no Republican Party anymore it has been taken over by the extreme right and calls itself the Tea Party. That is why there is only one choice for moderate Republicans, Independents and those on the left of center, many like myself who haven't changed their views in years but have watched the center move so far to the right over the last decade or more, that we are now part of the Left. The only choice we are left with is to give the Obama Administration 4 more years.

I told my Republican friends in 2010 when the Tea Party made their gains, enjoy it while you can because your day of reckoning is only 2 years away, the average American voter is a lot smarter and more educated than you give them credit for and Obama will be reelected in 2012, possibly in a landslide!

I really could not tell you who was what ,except the ones I know for sure. If the camera did not put the R or D under or next to the name, I could not tell you what party they were in. It seems to me whoever gives the person the most money, the area they are running in...is it easier to win as a Rep or Dem...see Leopold for example.

In the end I would say 90% of the people could not tell what party the candidate was in if they were unknown or had no score card.

No way is the Tea Party the far right religious nuts. They have their own identity and have split the party into 3 separate areas. The Religious right and the Conservative right could get along at times but the Tea Party is one that stands by itself. What started out to be a good thing has been embraced and taken over by the Coke's and the power rich right. Led by none other than the same characters who ran Bush;s campaign. Money, money money.

If Carl Rove could be a dictator he would love it but instead he finds ways, first the religious right with Bush and now the Tea Party...In this he gets to control the Government.

    Republicans are about "me"
    Democrats are about "we"

    That's why I'm a Democrat.

The best way to observe this is by closing your eyes and listening to a candidate talk. Choose one you are unfamiliar with and listen to what they say. I would say many could not tell if they were right or left on the issues.

Republicans/Conservatives are all about equal opportunity. Democrats/Liberals are all about equal outcomes, regardless of levels of effort.
