That's the number of roster moves the Orioles have made so far this season. I actually like the way they are fully using the 40 man roster this year. The 40 guys are there for a reason. I could see it becoming a new trend around the league.

I'd actually like to see MLB use the NFL roster model. While the NFL lets you carry 53 and suit up 46, I'd like to see MLB go to, say, a 27 man active roster, and allow them to suit up 25 on any given night.

I don't know if it's the preferred method for maintaining a competitive team, but it's worked this year. I guess it will keep many of the players from getting fatigued. and the arms should be stronger going into Sept/Oct - possibly late Oct

If this teams makes the playoffs of even just finshes well over .500 this will have to go down as one of the all time greatest GM and managerial jobs ever. They have plugged hole after hole with players out of nowhere. Gonzalez, McClouth, Quintanilla and the list goes on and on.

I don't know whether Duquette and Buck have some kind of mojo or chemistry going on but I hope it continues year after year. Almost every move they've made has worked and when they didn't they brought in someone else that did.

Both DD and Buck will deservingly get a number of votes for Executive and Manager of the Year.

if they make the playoffs, there's no doubt about it. Mgr and Exec of the year.

which leads me to this. the O's are dismissed at every turn as a fluke whose collapse will happen any minute now. while the A's are the exciting, surprise upstarts and media darlings.

    I wonder why that is.

In my opinion, the best part of all the roster moves is that in many cases, players were demoted for not performing. Setting and enforcing high expectations is the key to overcoming most challenges and DD proved that point this year. Too bad we wasted four years with AM and his cover his butt PLAN TO LOSE.
