Exclamation Del. Don Dwyer involved in boating accident

Several boats have collided in Sillery Bay (Magothy River) in Anne Arundel County. At least 7 victims are being transported to shore including multiple children. AACoFD has requested mutual aid from Balto City. MSP has a helicopter on site and the County has deployed the Medical Ambo-Bus for a mass casualty incident. Devloping.

It happened around 7pm so they must have seen each other. I don't boat so I don't know about accident avoidance tactics and speed. Hope all will be ok.

Del. Dwyer Admits To Drinking Before Boat Crash

Md. Del. Don Dwyer admitted to drinking alcohol prior to boating accident that injured the lawmaker and five others.

Authorities took a blood sample from Dwyer, R-Anne Arundel, after he was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he was in stable condition.

“It is true that I was drinking while operating my boat yesterday,” Dwyer said Thursday. “It has also been reported that my blood alcohol content was .2. No one, no one should be drinking and operating a motor vehicle or operating a power boat.”

It's time for Delegate Dwyer to do the right thing and step down. Children were injured and could have been killed.

Only an absolute idiot drinks and then takes a group of people ~ and even when including children ~ out on the water.

I agree. He has to step down today.

    Completely unacceptable and criminal behavior.

I hope all of the kids will be ok.

He certainly wasn't trying to duck responsibility for his actions. That's unusual for a politician.

    A .2 alcohol result!!!!

    Linky

The story is even more disturbing if the person with him is the same person who ran for sheriff in 2006. IF that turns out to be the case, how can anyone in law enforcement allow someone they're with to operate a boat under such circumstances?!?!?!

For that matter, why hasn't Dwyer been charged already?

I'm only asking a question so don't jump on me. I truly don't know the answer. Is .2 considered drunk?

"In a brief news conference outside a Baltimore hospital, the Pasadena Republican said his blood-alcohol content was measured at .2 percent after the crash. The legal limit is .08, according to state law." Add a zero to the .2 and you'll see.

Well, if he ran for Sheriff and lost, then he's not in law -enforcement, is he? Unless he has another job that I don't know about.

No rush to charge, why charge before investigation is complete? There would seem to be no hurry, no risk of flight, and many a case has been lost due to premature charging- best policy is, absent exigent circumstances, to wait, maybe even take the case before the Grand Jury or at the very least, The State's Attorney's Office.

I will say its quite refreshing, I mean Dwyer's not ducking or lawyering up like most of them do.

Thank you. Yeah, he needs to step down -- immediately. He could have killed those kids.

He wouldn't take questions and he supposedly read from a prepared statement.

And I suspect he'll be "lawyering up" as soon as the lawsuits start rolling in, given the circumstances and the number of victims.

    He needs to go immediately

Odd how none of his supporters said the same thing about drunken Uncle Teddy

    He actually did kill someone

How many times was he reelected after that?

The stupidity of those who continued to support Uncle Teddy has nothing to do with this case whatsoever, other than to attempt to draw some sort of nonexistent equivalency.

And conjuring up the Kennedy comparison certainly doesn't excuse or downplay the seriousness of the Dwyer incident. It only provides all the more reason for Delegate Dwyer to do the right thing and step down.

Mr. Morality, I am better than you drunk? Shocking! When is the puzzy police in AA County going to ARREST AND FINGERPRINT him. .2 should be good enought for that! People were hurt in this so called accident.
Or are the AA cops too busy securing Leopold and his puzzy supply?
