I respectfully disagree on that first part, at least in this specific instance. That shot was from a helicopter circling above while this was still playing out. The photographer saw this kid being cuffed and escorted and took the shot.

This is not representative of media bias agaist blacks, because you know well that had that kid been white, that picture still would have been taken. School shooting, kid in handcuffs-it makes the news.

Your second point is very true. It's like they need to put something, anything out there even without the details. But of course, thats not their fault, since the public demands something now!

With so much coverage, it seems they would have gotten at least a distant picture of the shooter. Before, during and after that pic was shown the students were posting the facebook page of the shooter to twitter. Some reporters even mentioned it, but said it was only alleged by the students/parents.

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) — It’s the end to a long and painful case. The teen charged with attempted murder after taking a gun to Perry Hall High School and firing into the cafeteria has entered a guilty plea. Rochelle Ritchie has more on the case.

He also listed Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold as inspirations on his Facebook page; they’re the killers responsible for the Columbine shooting.

After an emotional day of testimony, Robert W. Gladden Jr., the 15-year-old charged in the Perry Hall High School cafeteria shooting, was sentenced Monday to 35 years in prison. Baltimore County Circuit Judge Robert E. Cahill Jr. went beyond state sentencing guidelines to put Gladden away until he is at least 50 years old, citing continued fear in Perry Hall along with a national concern for school safety that has grown stronger since the Newtown, Conn. school massacre.

Kathleen Watkins, a school administrator, told the court that the school is still working to get past the shooting that injured Daniel Borowy, a 17-year-old special needs student, on the first day of school. One teacher only recently returned after being away since the incident, Watkins said. And about 75 students refuse to eat in the cafeteria, instead opting to eat in the library or forgoing lunch altogether, she added.

This is awesome, I was very glad to see that the judge made his point clear. How sad, in the same regard, that this 15 year old who wasn't thinking clearly will be locked up for 35 years. I think back on the poor decisions I made at 15 (which weren't even close to this, obviously) and I am so glad that none of them have lasting repercussions.

The famed comedian told the Washington Times that neighborhood watch volunteers like George Zimmerman, who shot and killed the unarmed black teenager, should not be allowed to carry guns.

"We've got to get the gun out of the hands of people who are supposed to be on neighborhood watch," Cosby said in his first public remarks about the case, published today.

"Without a gun, I don't see Mr. Zimmerman approaching Trayvon by himself," Cosby added. "The power-of-the-gun mentality had him unafraid to confront someone. Even police call for backup in similar situations.

President Obama. Cosby had some strong words, in fact, for people who actively go out of their way to undermine him by “saying things that they can’t prove,” and many of the people who were supposed to be working with him on important legislative issues are no longer doing that. He said Obama was just trying to do his job, but many people are just standing in his way, no matter what he does. Crowley asked if that isn’t just politics as usual. Cosby countered that the climate surrounding Obama is much worse. He predicted Obama would be much better in a second term in office.

Then Crowley shifted to the Trayvon Martin case to get Cosby’s take on the issues surrounding it. He focused on the one fact that George Zimmerman shot Trayvon to bring up what he perceives as an issue with gun ownership mentality.

“When a person has a gun, sometimes their mind clicks that this thing… it will win arguments and straighten people out. And then in the wrong hands, in the wrong mind, it’s death, it’s wounding people. People who don’t have money to buy a decent meal for themselves, yet someone will put an illegal gun in their hand? And we in this country have got to continue to be out there in the streets about the gun.”

I think all of us had situations in our lives, but this does stretch the limit.

As for his sentence, remember that 35 years is not the total...He will get time off for good behavior, etc etc etc...

I do not think he will be out next week, but he won't be doing all 35 years.

Early release or not, I am impressed that the Judge did give such a sentence, it does show others in his peer group that crime won't be tolerated in the County.
