McDonogh JV 41, Curley JV 27

Young Eagles (with less than 30 players) beat convincingly the same Curley JV squad that beat GC's JV 33-6.

CHC 10 St. John's 9. I think they have Friendship Collegiate next.
The Baby Cardinals are now 3-0.

Eagles Insider FYI, GC's JV is not better than their freshmen team. CHC scrimmaged them both, back to back and did quite well against both teams.

WCAC freshmen teams are usually better than their JV.

But sounds like there are some good MIAA JV teams. Gilman is also 2-0 beating GC and Spalding. Defense has been lifts out! Only allowing 6 points and beating Spalding 40-0.

Howard is still rolling through their schedule beating Atholton 34-0. Scoring 99 points and only giving up 7. In 3 years Howard has only lost 3 football games on the JV level and looks like they have a shot of going unbeaten this year. The varsity program is real strong and the success should continue with one of the better JV programs in the area.

    Default Week 4

Calvert Hall had a rough start in their game against Friendship Collegiate (DC) yesterday in Towson. After a three and out on their first possession, the Friendship punt returner caught the ball off a second or third bounce and ran about 65 yards for the TD.

Things didn't get much better for the Cardinals on their second possession. The ball was fumbled in the end zone and the defense recovered it for a second score. Both Friendship scores were followed by 2 pt conversions against the regular FG defense and not the 1st team D.

Calvert Hall played much better in the second half with a short passing game and power runs. They marched about 75 yards for their first score and also got the 2pt conversion. The Cardinal defense stiffened up in the 3rd quarter and Calvert Hall offense was marching in for their second score late in the 4th quarter. The Cardinal QB threw a beautiful pass to his receiver at about the Friendship 40 yard line. The receiver made a spectacular catch catch before being hit by the DB and fumbling the ball into the air where the Friendship safety made a diving interception.

After that Friendship ran out the clock for the 16-8 win. Next up for Calvert Hall, Mt. St. Joseph in two weeks.

    Default CHC smacks around MSJ

CHC overcame 10-0 1st Quarter lead in Towson earlier this evening. MSJ got an interception on the 1st possession of the game and returned it back about 40 yards to inside the 10 yard line. The Gaels scored two plays later on a slant pass. The second MSJ score was also a result of another turnover, this time a fumble. MSJ got down to inside the 20 and their kicker snuck the ball just over the crossbar for a 10-0 lead.

After that FG the Cardinal offensive line started dominating the line of scrimmage and their running game got going. The Cardinal RBs scored all three TDs after the defense kept forcing turnovers.

CHC is now 4-1 and next up is McDonogh in Owings Mills next Thursday.

    Default Cardinals Neuter the Greyhounds

Calvert Hall dominated Gilman yesterday afternoon at the Roland Avenue school. In what was a tough game, CHC physically punished Gilman and knocked 4-5 of Gilman's kids out of the game with hard, legal tackles. The recently demoted NFL referees continually tried to hand the game to Gilman with bogus interference and unnecessary roughness calls as well as generous spots on failed goal line runs.

Freshman Morgan Scroggins scored one TD on a beautiful 20 yd fade route thrown by Soph QB Kenji Bahar to the corner of the end zone. The other score was on a short run by Freshman FB Trayvon Hollis through the middle of Gilman's line. The final score of 14-0 was not indicative of the whipping that the baby Cards put on Greyhound Alum's puppies.

I found out after the game that the reason CHC kids were hitting so hard was because the Gilman kids were talking much trash before and during the game. They didn't have much to say after the game, of course!

BTW, CHC's Fresh/Soph also dominated their Gilman counterparts, 24-0. Their goes GA's theory that Gilman has a better program than CHC. Gilman football is top heavy with all their talent at the varsity level. A handful of freshmen & sophomores play meaningful minutes while the others get in against inferior opponents at the end of games. IMO, they'd be better served playing on the Fresh/Soph or JV teams.

So it's a done deal that SFA is coming to the A conference next year? If the SFA fresh/soph is playing a JV schedule then who will the JV play. Is SFA walking before they learn to crawl.
