Nunez is considered very good offensively but too weak defensively to play the infield. If that's the standard, it's hard to imagine the Yankees going after Reynolds.

In my opinion, the odds are that Reynolds stays with the Orioles from lack of interest by other teams unless Boston is desparate for a power hitting first baseman with a low batting average and high strikeouts.
I heard some of this info as well. word around the campfire is that he'll waive his no-trade. I'll reinforce the Miami comment. they would be interested in his star player status as a drawing card for weak fan support. another less flattering point was made about Miami. they are stupid enough to take on a rapidly deteriorating player at a huge cost. IMO they're kinda stuck in this zone where they can't have a fire sale, because of the other new contracts they picked up last year. so they have to throw good money after bad in hopes that they can repair some of the damage from the embarrassing 2012 season.

So. Florida is a huge baseball market

I heard MR likes Baltimore and the club. I also think the O's like MR. so it all comes down to common ground on a contract.

one thing I've noticed about the O's, players like being here after they've played here. MR seems to be another example of that.

I feel like I've posted this comment a 100 times already, but since you touched on it, I think Boston is going to court him this winter. they have the need, the money and the willingness to spend big to get their guy. but they may decide on LaRoche

If Boston courts him with a long term deal in the $8 million per year range, they'll get him. I hope the O's pass. I can't help but believe that practically any first baseman playing full time in the O's bandbox could could close to MR's power numbers with far fewer strikeouts and far more consistency.

Several posters have mentioned Davis at first. He'd be a big improvement over MR offensively.

agreed. and passing on MR reduces the number of free swinging strike out guys. Davis is a younger MR, and he can handle 1B

With Davis at first, hopefully the O's would then consider Hall of Famer Vlad the Impaler for DH now that cousin DD and Buck realize that a full time DH is OK. The Impaler is far younger than Jim Thome and (speaking as a 115 year old gentleman) getting younger is always a good thing.
