Default Aquille Carr leaving Baltimore to spend senior year at Florida prep school

Aquille Carr, The Baltimore Sun’s All-Metro Player of Year in boys basketball the last two seasons, will not play in Baltimore as a senior.

The seven months since Carr led Patterson High to a Maryland 4A state championship have been a whirlwind of school transfers and legal trouble.

Only a few weeks after the state title game, Carr transferred to St. Patrick High in Elizabeth, N.J., to work on his academic transcript. He remained there for little more than a month, returning to Patterson in May. He played in few summer basketball showcases, instead opting for summer school.

Arlington Country Day has only 320 students but routinely fields basketball teams stocked with Division I prospects, many from out of state. Morgan said he has brought in several players from the Washington area in recent seasons.

Very sad for Baltimore that we don't get to watch Aquille play this year, but hopefully the change of location is best for him as a person. Hopefully Aquille is able to realize his potential and make the most of it, on AND off the court. I'm sure that it's tough to stay away from the bad influences of Baltimore, and maybe being 1,000 miles away will help. Good luck and don't forget your roots!

He's back in Baltimore and playing for Princeton Day Academy. I can hear the cries of foul when the NCAA declares him a non-qualifier when his transcripts reads - Patterson High School, St. Patricks High School (30 days), Patterson (half a semester all total), Arlington Country Day (what about a weekend?), and PDA for now. I wonder how much the new 2.00 GPA eligibility requirement for Baltimore County schools drove him to the private schools.

This young man's life appears to be in chaos.

Whoever is advising him is not doing him any favors.

    Foolishness, indeed.

I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with it since Patterson is not in Baltimore County

That's five transfers between four different schools in less than a year. What's the problem?

Looks like PDA is nothing more than a Diploma Mill!

Aquille Carr will wait until spring to sign with Seton Hall

Nine Baltimore-area boys basketball players are committed to Division I programs, but at least one won't sign during the fall period, which begins Wednesday.

Former Patterson guard Aquille Carr doesn't plan to sign with Seton Hall during the week-long signing period, according to his high school coach. Is the two-time Baltimore Sun All-Metro Player of the Year still committed to the Pirates?
This can't be good. This has "train wreck" written all over it.
