I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
I don't see how that is a fit.

Yeah this team definitely doesn't need patient hitters who can work a count and get on base rather than K.
I sure hope not.
The thought of this Yankee punk in an Orioles uniform is about as appealing as reading posts by Joe Cool and Yanky Dave. Enough to make me barf everytime I look at him. I would rather overpay for Reynolds first than consider this joker.
He seems like an a-hole. I'd feel the the same way regardless of his jersey. The smirk and mannerisms are annoying.
He does not seem to be poplar amongst other players either.
Yes, his 140+ Ks attest to that.
There are two things that Swisher does to the level that he wants to be paid - getting on base and..wait what was the other thing?
He has homerun power, but he's not a home run hitter. He is a good player, but he wants great player money.
Did I forget to mention he's not a good defender?
I don't dislike the guy because he's a former Yankee - I think it would be nice once in a while for the O's to steal some Yanks. The real issue I have is that he's massively overrated.
He's not a 15-20 a year player.
If the O's get him for less than 15 a year, I think it's value. Otherwise, there are better fits for the O's.
I haven't seen him quoted, but everything I've read is that is the area that he's expected to go in.
From MLBTR:
"The Yankees are still planning on making a qualifying offer of about $13.5MM to free agent Nick Swisher, writes Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. However, the club will only do so in order to receive draft pick compensation and have no expectations of Swisher accepting the deal."

...and this one says he's looking for 100 mil +
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/0...00mm-plus.html
he's dreaming if he thinks he's getting that kind of money. his stats are very similar to Reynolds, and he's being discussed as an $8M/yr player. Swisher better jump on the qualifying offer from NY. otherwise, his only hope is that Boston wants to take him just because it may frustrate the Yankees in some way, which I couldn't see why it would frustrate them.
and if he's as big a d-bag as his reputation says he is, he's not joining the O's. I don't see DD & Buck dealing with a tool. (thanks for the link Oriole Dave)
his stats are very similar to that of Adam Jones, that would be a pretty impressive outfield, Swisher/Jones/Markakis
I've got no problem spending Angelos' money for him. Give me Swisher(i stomached through Luke Scott) how much worse of an ahole can he be. An ace pitcher and an upgrade at 2b, resign Reynolds around 8-9 mill and we can take it all the way next year.
Some of you must have missed how badly he choked in the playoffs. His so called bat was MIA in both series. I would take McClouth over him any day and Reynolds at the right price.
AJ's bat was MIA in the playoffs too. that particular characteristic isn't telling of what kind of player he is.
as for your previous post to me, I didn't want you to feel ignored. I read it, but this thread is too interesting to derail it with one of your tickle fights.
we'll save that for the late winter when the conversations are sparce.
