What do you all think? What regions are the strongest? Weakest?

IMO, the 3A West (both sections) is the toughest region in the state playoff system. What I like us that Dunbar finally gets to step up in playoff competition. Middletown, Eastern Tech, Hereford, McDonough, Roosevelt & Friendly will give the Poets more of a challenge. Old nemeses like Catoctin & Gwynn Park will be gunning for Dunbar also. The state titles might slow down to a trickle now that the Poets aren't the big fish in a little pond.

Oh, I forgot Queen Anne's & Kent Island. What a murderer's row for the almighty Poets!

From what I have heard the sectional approach does not apply to football. Looks like it will still be top 4 point getters from each region.

    North (8):
    New Town
    Pikesville
    Sparrows Point
    Central
    Fairmont Heights
    Forestville
    Surrattsville
    Buford Drew Jemison

    South (11)

    Boonsboro moves to 2A
    Western Tech moves to 2A
    Mountain Ridge moves to 2A

Yeah, I see Dunbar being just as big, strong, and slow where Hereford is big, strong, and slow. But Dunbar will be much speedier and athletic were you put points on the board. Discipline goes to the Bulls.

They will? How do you know this?

On what are you basing this assumption?

Then get more boys into the school. It is that simple.

I think the 2A north will be a really neat region. With Hereford and EVT moving back down and the addition of Patterson and Dunbar will make for some interesting matchups.

I think Hereford and EVT will both bounce back being in a region that suits their enrollment. I look for EVT to make a strong comeback after a fair 2011 season and a dismall 2012 season. The good news is that the EVT-Hereford matchup is back and it will also most likely have a rematch if both make the playoffs. For those that have been to an EVT-Hereford matchup it is always a physical game. I believe Hereford has a 7-4 edge over ET in the last decade, but it is a game where the kids and both coaching staffs have much respect for one another. I like the 2A North and the winner of that region will compete well with the other regions in the 2A.

But hasn't the EVT and Hereford matches continued over the years even though they have been in two classifications...

Yes you are right it has continued but what I was referring to was the rivalry in a classification that suits both teams much better. I think that both Hereford and EVT will be constantly fighting for a regional championship. They will play once in the regular season and probably meet up for a playoff game. With the addition of Dunbar and Patterson makesit more exciting.

Oh, years and years and years of watching both teams. How each team choose to develop and the type of players they require for the O and D teams? The athletic speedsters seek out Dunbar, some say get recruited or get selectively enrolled. Hereford get theirs from the Parkton communities or some say from searching the isles of the local GNC for their juiced up weight lifter brutes.

    Just sayin'

That is just for football only. Every other sport will follow the sectional format
