Urbana at Damascus is my pick. Upset by the visitors.

Suitland at DuVal will also be a good one, I like the visitors there as well.

The official MPSSAA seedings will be released later today and will include a previously unannounced Week 8 forfeit.

I so much like both 2A south match-ups. Patuxent is going into Douglass. This is a re-match of last's heartbreaker for Patuxent when they were the #1 seed and were beaten by the #4 seed Douglass. Patuxent all but had Douglass by the short hairs with Douglass at 4th and long deep in their own territory near the end of the game and they were up by several points. Douglass dropped back to punt but pulled off a classic 10-men on the field fake punt. Patuxent failed to notice the 11th-man ( the gunner ) hugging the sideline and Douglass snapped to the short man of the punting team, the QB, who tossed the ball to the sleeper 11th man who ran a mile before he was tackled. Douglass went on to score and took the lead. With very little time on the clock, Patuxent had to march the length of the field for the comeback win but they had to do it passing and Douglass picked off the ball to hold on for the win. Douglass then went on to beat the region #2 seed at Glenelg the following week who had taken down Gwynn Park. Douglass then went to the 2A east region #1 seed Kent Island and beat them soundly for the ticket to M&T Bank to face the eventual state champion Middletown who look like the machine they were last season.

Gwynn Park was disappointed in their first-round loss to Glenelg last year because I was told by some folks in the know that the then #3 seed GP had a better team than #2 seed Glenelg but the Gladiators took it to GP and sent them home early. McDonough didn't even make the playoffs last season at 7 and 3 coming off a state title run. But they are back for some comeback and my sources ( in-law family folks in the SMAC area ) say that the Rams fans in the stands "...are some of the most aggressive obnoxious ego trippin' bunch you'll come across..." They think they are title town in Pomfret.

    Let The Games Begin...

    Just sayin'

The official MPSSAA playoff pairings have been released and are available here.

Great Mills forfeited their Week 8 win over LaPlata, but fortunately this forfeit had very little impact on the final numbers and no impact on the final pairings.

A few teams to watch out for. Westminster better watch out for Sherwood. I can see a close game or even an upset if they meet.
Dougless of Balt county has a great defense if they can score a little more they can be a tough out.
North Harford may win the 3aNorth. They have alot of playoff experience.
Cambridge south Dorchester may shock Perryville.

Default Championship games I'd like to see

I don't know if possible but I'd love to see the following:

    4A-[B]Westminster[B] vs Arundel

    3A-Franklin vs River Hill

    2A-Edmondson vs Kent Island

    1A-Dunbar vs Perryville

I want to see Edmondson vs. Douglass. Should be a battle in a rematch of a close game that Edmondson pulled out the first time.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Dunbar and Perryville would play in the semis

Isn't that difficult to tell now with re-seeding?

I've never seen Arundel and Kent Island. Just trying to see some fresh blood at M&T.

Franklin is loaded with talent. Kent island may have one of thee best staffs in the state.

Those 2A east teams seem to go 10 and 0 or 9 and 1 every year but go out the second they play someone outside of the eastern shore come playoff time. Kent Island was supposedly a good squad last year but Douglass-PG soundly beat them in all phases of their playoff game.

Arundel is just a passing machine but as theweather gets really really cold, you look up and it's the playoffs. I remember one season Arundel must have averaged 45 or 50 points a game. But Arundels's opponents scored 35 and 40 points against them. It's wild and crazy how they play at Arundel.

I hear you but I think people were giving the 1st round matchups that they wanted to see thus my Edmondson Douglass game.

Unfortunately some of the good matchups might happen in the semis so we might have to do some traveling in a couple of weeks.

After what TJ did to them last year I think you might be right.

    As predicted. Great game!

Trailing by a point in overtime, the Hawks went for a two-point conversion and connected as Wharton caught Donovan Pannell's pass in the middle of the end zone, sealing a dramatic 24-23 Hawks victory.
    Gutsy call.
