I don't think that's entirely fare. Jones and Hardy were excellent additions to the club and I am sure he had some input in bringing buck here. He signed, although he did not draft Weiters and was involved in drafts that gave us Bundy and some of the other players we're starting to see at the mlb level.

No doubt that Duquette put some of the touches in place that allowed the O's to become such a great story but the corps of the team was developed by MacPhail and, to a lesser extent, Flannagan.

Zero impact free agent signings about sums up his reign to me. He still ignored the needs at 1st and 3rd the entire time he was here. OH wait, he did sign Garrett Atkins

AM brought in some of the players who now contribute. that's as far as his contributions go. I totally agree with the comment that the team would have finished in the basement... again...if he was here last season.

If AM were still here, he'd have typically set low expectations (to cover his butt) and surprise surprise, the O's would have predictably met AM's expectations.

The offense under DD in 2012 produced the same as they did in 2011. So DD doesn't get any credit for that but the starting rotation is DD's doing. And Tillman probably would have been awful this year if it weren't for DD bringing in Rick Peterson. Macphail ignored starting pitching. He just seemed to believe pitching didn't matter. And would fix itself.

McPhail made some good trades but thats the only noticable thing that I can tell he has done. Maybe some prospects will start performing well in the minors that make him look good. But I agree there would not have been any significant changes to the pitching staff like what happened under DD, which means 90 losses again. McPhail was out of touch with todays game. He never seemed to have a backup plan in case all 5 starters fail, like they would every year under him.

Me either. I remember MacPhail saying the O's Latin American presence should be lessened. This could be taken as one of his many quotes that didnt make sense when he was GM.

Oh ok. That apparently was built in '07. A few months after MacPhail was on the job. Im not aware of any big dividends from that.
