Default For president: vote for Gary Johnson

The platform of the Libertarian Party:
    http://www.lp.org/platform

Since it is a foregone conclusion where Maryland's electoral votes will go, why not go on record against the two-party oligarchy? Unlike the two major parties, the Libertarian platform would actually address the key issue facing our country, the fact that we are on the brink of economic disaster. The Republicrats are united in agreement on intrusive, wasteful big government; keeping us at war somewhere or other; and immorally squandering our grandchildren's future on political perks for ourselves that we cannot afford.

The two parties are also in full agreement on keeping any third party from disturbing the status quo, and making sure that the public is kept in ignorance, quibbling about details that seem important but really don't affect the big picture, essentially rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

People say it is a waste of our vote, but if enough of the popular vote goes to Gary Johnson, the Federal Election Commission may be forced to include this third party in future considerations. At least I am letting the powers that be know that I am dissatisfied with our choices.

"As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others.

We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual.

We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose."

Politics DOES make strange bedfellows (no question 6 pun intended)-I also am voting for Gary Johnson. I am also voting for Sobhani, just because I can't give Someones friend Ben my vote and don't want to vote for Bogninio either. The arrogance of the 2 party system has been getting to me for years. It's not a wasted vote if you cast it. A statement is made with every vote.

I voted straight Libertarian this election.

I was going to vote for Sobhani, but ended up changing over to Ahmad. Not like it makes any difference.

I changed my mind at the last minute and switched from Sobhani to Ahmad at the last minute, just because he is Libertarian and I would like to see more of them get a chance.

Don't know whether you actually believe these or whether they're simply rhetorical statements, but you likely know that the popular notion is the opposite.

The opposite is based on academically fueled economic theories; these basically take an egocentric act (voting, buying; as in "I want") & magically project it as intended solely for act's object: candidate gains by voting; mfr., retailer gain from purchase. Altho these are indeed true, act remains egocentric ("I want").

Prof. liberals, conservatives (i.e., those that stand to gain) also magically eschew egocentric notion; project all-encompassing gain: the general good. & As William Blake noted long ago, the general good is the cry of the hypocrite, flatterer, scoundrel.

I was a bit suspicious of candidates that'd never held elective office (clowns challenging Cardin, who's a waterman like I'm a particle physicist), but I s'pose you gotta start somewheres & of course old Gary had.

I voted for him altho I think for the most part "libertarian" is these days a euphemism for fascist cretin. Next time, maybe Gary & friends'll come up w/ a better party label.
