Default 16-year-old arrested in Westminster Safeway robbery, charged as adult

Police have charged a 16-year-old from Westminster as an adult for the August armed robbery of a Westminster grocery store.

Kyle Andrew Dawan Jackson, is charged with eight criminal counts including armed robbery and conspiracy to armed robbery. He was released Sunday from the Carroll County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.

The juvenile told police they robbed the store because they needed money for a party the following night, according to court documents.

Jackson is also facing burglary charges from a July 20 incident at College Square Liquors, which is located in the same shopping center as Safeway.
I agree with the "charged as an adult" but question the wisdom of releasing him on such a small bond. Armed robbery and 2nd deg burglary are pretty serious charges for young Mr Jackson, ones that could see him sent away for 20+ years. Seems like a good reason to flee Westminster and not appear at trial.

You do realize that after the party he was going to fill out his advanced college placement forms. He was planning on being a doctor and curing cancer.

The second suspect in the robbery of the Westminster Safeway last summer was arrested Tuesday.

A warrant for the arrest of Bryan Keith Miller, 19, of the 600 block of Spring Meadow Drive in Westminster, was issued Nov. 1. He is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to armed robbery and theft of less than $1,000.

Miller was released from the Carroll County Detention Center Tuesday on $20,000 bail.
