Default Who was big Democrat loser in Maryland after yesterday?

Peter Franchot. He should switch parties if he wants to have a future in Maryland politics after last night.

Tuesday's results open the door for Brown/Rawlings-Blake in 2014

Yesterday definitely hurt Franchot's 2014 governor aspirations.

At this admittedly very early stage, I think a more likely match would be Brown ~ Ulman. Peter Franchot became a man without a party.

Plus any of the anti gay marriage Democrats.

And ME, now that Cummins is my congressman.

I have one question. Did he lie about anything?

That would be tragic. I like Lt. Gov. Brown. I have a lot of respect for him and his service to our Country and State. But I would not vote for a Brown/SRB ticket.

If Franchot included in his platform making the Maryland Educational Trust Fund a dedicated fund that could not be borrowed from. I would vote for him without a second thought.

When you try to sucker me into supporting something I might otherwise oppose by saying it's for the kids. The kids had better every penny of that money or it's fraud. Just like the Red Cross and their 911 Fund. They wanted to spend some of the money on improving their infrastructure. The courts said, absolutely not! Every penny had to go 911 Victims.

Franchot is refreshing in that he generally doesn't play partisan politics. What's wrong with that?

As a right leaning unaffiliated voter, I am actually leaning toward Franchot in 2014.

Franchot is entertaining and exhibits refreshing candor. But he'll never get the support of the Democratic Party establishment, so it will be very difficult for him to get the nomination. The power brokers will likely back Anthony Brown, who raised his public profile a fair amount this election.

Funny thing. Franchot basically said what voters that were bright enough to know the back door history of Q7 including payoffs and the whole dirty mess and he is black listed from the party.

Makes one wonder about the party and why so many in this state are victims of it and not broght enough to know it.

The friction between Franchot and the party establishment goes wayback, long before Question 7.

But if I remmeber right, thepast friction is similar to Q7 issue.

Franchot mistakenly is up front vocal about what's best for marylanders and taxpayers, and that goes against the grain of the party mafia consisting of Miller, Busch and O'Malley and those tied to their skirts.

I can't vote for Mr. Franchot in the primary election either.

But because of his apparent alienation from the Maryland Democrat party machine, he really should consider changing his party affiliation before running for different statewide office in the future. He does have more name recognition statewide than any Republican in Maryland. And unlike any other Republicans ~ he would likely have their support unless they think he is too liberal for them ~ he would also have more support from Democrats statewide and particularly in his home county.

The MDGOP is indirectly responsible for him being elected comptroller in the first place when the former~governor inadvertently galvanized support for him from Democrat voters when the former~governor got behind the former~comptroller who was a Democrat!!

It cracks me up when people talk about Franchot as some paragon of ideological virtue.

Franchot is an opportunist. Before he became Comptroller (in itself a marvelous example of brilliant opportunism) he was what many would call, a Tacoma Park liberal. He was a liberal's liberal, a certified member of the left wing fringe.

After he and O'Malley were elected, he looked at the likely contenders for Governor in 2014 and decided that the way to get through a primary field crowded with suburban DC candidates was to be viewed as a Democratic iconoclast at odds with the mainstream party, in the hope of securing the right of center suburban Democratic vote.

Judging by what I read here, his strategy might be paying off.

    Some people will buy anything.
