Well Justin Upton can be an Oriole when you go to sleep tonight and dream about it, Justin Upton will be an Oriole in your dreams. I didn't mean to come off like that but I'm just being real about it.

The DBacks want a SS as part of any package. They're looking for players like Jurickson Profar. are you cool with giving them Manny? because he will be a non-negotiable demand, and he's only one piece of the package they're looking for. they're using Upton to quickly reload their org for a new start.

the O's don't have the pieces to land him.

Where the hell did I say that it was wrong for the O's to talk to Arizona, nowhere. Of course they could talk, that's what GMs do and that's what they are doing at these meetings. You are the one who would love to see him in an O's uniform and I kind of joked that it will happen in your dreams. As weird-O stated the Dbacks want a SS or 3B, the O's aren't giving up Manny and Arizona will want a young SS with good upside since they would be trading a player who has bigtime upside.

Upton is under control for 3 yrs (with an option for a 4th). his salary will be $10M then it jumps to $14M the rest of the way. he's totally worth the money. that's part of what will make him so valuable on the trade market.

Dbacks are in the driver's seat on this one. they simply can't rebuild quickly enough to utilize him now.

Ok my approach was wrong but I never said the O's shouldn't talk to Arizona about Upton, I just don't believe anything will happen when it's all said and done. I'm pretty sure that Arizona will want Machado and I'm pretty sure that the O's aren't going to bite on that.

Hardy and who else? I'm telling you now they are going to want Machado who has more upside than Hardy. Hell if the Rangers are willing to give up Elvis Andrus along with other pieces Upton will be a Ranger just like that.

I'm sorry about the dream shots it's just frustrating to here these rumors about the O's being linked to star players and knowing that nothing will happen (the O's haven't been linked to Upton, yet). I would love for Upton to be an Oriole too but the O's aren't willing to deal certain players (Machado, Bundy) to get a guy like him.

That would be awesome if the O's got away with that trade but that won't happen since that won't be enough. I'm telling you now Kevin Towers and the Dbacks will want to start with Machado.

It's the upside factor, Upton is 25 years old, already a two time All Star, and a Silver Slugger award winner. He did finish the season strong and you know Arizona isn't just going to give him away. If we were talking about his brother BJ (who of course is a free agent) then maybe your trade proposal would work but Justin has more upside than his brother. I like your trade proposal but I seriously doubt that Kevin Towers will go for it. If the Rangers are willing to give the DBacks Elvis Andrus the other teams in the mix for Upton have no shot.

SugarRay is right, all talks start with Manny. and Manny is only the first piece. from what I'm hearing, they will be looking for at least 3 top shelf players. Baltimore would be setting themselves back if they made this deal. it would open more holes than it would fill.

If they are willing to take pitching (not Bundy), it is worth it to talk.

Manny is one of a group of mostly untouchables, imo.

curious who you feel the 3 POSSIBLE top shelf players would be ? In my mind that means 3 starters (rookies eventually) for 1 Upton.

Back to looking at Butler or Hamilton
