Yesterday, the excuse was the assumption that Obama voters are all parasites.
Today, the excuse is that the negative ads from Obama made millions of voters stay home
Case in point:
Karl Rove told Fox News' Megyn Kelly on Thursday that President Obama won re-election "by suppressing the vote" with negative campaign ads that "turned off" potential voters, citing a victory that carried a smaller percentage of the popular vote compared to that of the 2008 presidential race.
Rove also praised Mitt Romney for a job well done, but criticized his campaign for failing to combat President Obama's Bain attack ads early on.

Rove has to know Romney was ultimately a loser like the candidate he beat in 2004.
To an extent, that is correct. The Bain ads and tax dust-ups helped to paint Romney in a negative light to a lot of voters. All fair game and a masterful use of the tactic by Obama. Rove would certainly understand it. He came up with the tactic of swiftboating Kerry in 2004. Besides defining Romney on his own terms, the ads served as a distraction that kept the focus off of the economy. Romney took the bait by answering them. Everytime he defended his Bain years or his failure to release his taxes, he legitimized the claims and contributed to the distraction. The President's campaign staff pushed the buttons, and Romney went along with it. I said this months ago. Republicans shouldn't be bitter about the tactic. They were the ones that first showed how to take a president who was very vulnerable, and change the discussion around to take the focus off of his failures and define the other candidate in a very negative light. They just got beat with a lot of their own strategy.
Oh the irony in Rove complaining about negative campaigning. LOL SOUTH CAROLINA 2000
I agree that the ads were effective but the only reason they were effective is because there was a grain of truth to them.
The problem with Rove's conclusion is that it assumes that all the voters who stayed home would've voted for Romney. There's no way to know for sure how they would have voted.
I'm sure hurricane Sandy affected overall turnout as well.
Rove lost millions of dollars with his Crossroads America pac. Hopefully he's through.
Karl Rowe has a lot of splaining to do. He lost a lot of people money. He lost seats in the Senate, and lost the big one.
