It is just showing everyone that it hates this nation and what we stand for...

I would love to be the 1st person to offer it a ride down to dc to the Vietnam Memorial or WWII memorial as it carries an upside down American flag...

This site should help you understand more:

Men and women fought for the honor of the flag. We mere civilians need to understand and respect that. An upside down flag has a unique message. Those who display an upside down flag for other reasons are showing the same disrespect of those who burn an mutilate it.
I'm not closed-minded. I often change my views after I listen to others. The difference between me and a politician is that mine is genuine and intrinsic; a flip-flopping politician does so in an attempt to get more votes by pandering to his audiences. I hope you see the difference there.
You are close-minded if you are bellyaching about someones picture of an upside dow flag. Freedom of speech means even things you don't like. You should be able to do whatever you want with a flag. This is america, not some twobit middle eastern fleabag country.

It's all about respect and honor. You and others may go on and on about freedom of speech, but those freedoms have come because of the men and women who fought for them.

You are right - this is America and we should be better than anyone in the world at honoring those who bravely fought for those freedoms.

"An American flag or for that matter any flag flown upside-down is considered a sign of distress...
Mutiny, piracy, sinking, coup, rebellion of the people/government.
The fact that any flag flown upside-down means distress is not the whole story however... flags flown upside-down can and are used as a form of protest.

All that aside, let’s not get all melodramatic. On here it probably symbolizes nothing more than an old poster's need for a new and eye-striking avatar.

    Just my two cents.

(Anyone got three more pennies we'll have a nickle.)

Here's the last line in your link that you didn't include...

The flag is a symbol of control and superiority. The use of such in any other way is considered "desecration". . .
...to me, it says it all.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but that doesn't make it the law of the land.

I remember quite a few guys wearing flags with peace symbols in the blue fields drawn on their steel pot covers or flack jackets. (Might have been some updise down flags too, but I can't recall for sure; it was more than 40 years ago, you see?)

I can't tell you for sure what people died for over there. I've been asking myself that same question for 40 years and still haven't come up with a very good answer. Maybe for that handful of guys there with you. (When you're in the bush, man, believe me, you'll never be so alone again in your life as that; ain't nobody there but the boogieman guys right next to you.) Mostly, I think, we didn't want to die for anything at all; we wanted to live. Just didn't work out that way for all of us is all.

Anyway, I don't think anybody was over there because of a piece of cloth. And I'm pretty sure nobody was dying for one. So I don't see too many of us getting too upset about an upside down flag avatar on an internet chant board.

    Life's too short.

The supreme court in texas v johnson ruled the first amendment protects flag burning as non speech expression

Why the big deal about an upside down flag?

A lot of prissies and selective outrage on this board.
