No, it is just that it is hard for me to reconcile the fact that a player who is best at his position for 6-7 plays a game and pretty good for 45 or so plays a game is more valuable than a player that is one of the best at his position for 45 or so plays a game. You don't need to go making assumptions about me. We disagree and I have laid out my reasons. They seem reasonable to me and not too "homerish".

Is it possible to disagree with you and still be capable of independent thought or does the fact that I disagree with you prove that I'm nothing but a mindless homer?

Sure. Just don't make ridiculous convoluted arguments. I've been reading your posts for years now, and you are a homer, and your post trying to minimize Sproles accomplishments vs Rice's is a perfect example. All you had to say is that Ray contributes significantly to his team, and Sproles contributes significantly to his team. They each have their own special ways of contributing, and each is acknowledged around the league. But to take Sproles unselfishness and willingness to do whatever his team needs him to do, and do it with league leading stats is unquestionable, and try to minimize what he's contributed to the Saints is absurd. Except, apparently, in your mind.

    No, that's his routine.

How were my arguments convoluted? In the offense, Rice's stats are usually double Sproles'. Yes Sproles is a great return man but again that is 6-7 plays a game. I'm not minimizing what Sproles means to the Saints. He is a great player. I simply believe Rice is more valuable to his team than Sproles is to his.

You don't rack up the numbers Sproles did just by being a return man. He led the lead in total yards last season. And that's on a team with Drew Brees, who threw for more yardage than anyone else in the league. And the fact that you can't or won't see that says a lot. And it's that blind vision that I'm addressing here.

Hey, I'm just looking at the numbers. Thirty running backs had more rushing yards than Sproles did last year. He did have the most receiving yards, beating out Rice by 6 yards. So yes, a whole lotta those yards were the return game.

As to the return game, he was second in kickoff returns and 19th in punt returns. Where he gets his props is that unlike all of the other great returners (Hester, Cribbs, etc) Sproles is a pretty darn good every down player.

No problem. We'll just agree to disagree. How's that?

But, you know how these things work....now that he's opened his big yap, they'll probably lose to the Saints this week.
    Larry the sooth sayer?
