Default Vatican Vows to Fight Gay Marriage After Gains in US, Europe

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/11/11/vatican-gaymarriage-idUSL5E8MB1Q020121111

"For the second consecutive day, Vatican media weighed in with forceful editorials restating the Roman Catholic Church's unequivocal opposition.
"It is clear that in Western countries there is a widespread tendency to modify the classic vision of marriage between a man and woman, or rather to try to give it up, erasing its specific and privileged legal recognition compared to other forms of union," Father Federico Lombardi, said in a tough editorial on Vatican Radio.”

It is way past time for the Church to start excommunicating so called “Catholics” who embrace and support both abortion and gay marriage. Perhaps starting with Vice President Joe Biden?

If in fact some 50% of so called “Catholics” voted for President Obama, and EVERY plank in the Democratic party, then some serious “pruning” is needed.

    If not now, then when?

Yes, the Catholic church should do MORE things to make it less relevant in the western world. That would be smart...

I think the CC should definitely focus more on the homos outside of its clergy than w/i. It gets downright uncomfortable for everyone when the predatory nature of their clergy and a widespread conspiracy to cover it up is talked about aloud. Gay marriage rights in America are clearly more pressing than widespread and endemic child molestation which was practiced for the last half century and condoned by those AT THE VERY TOP.

The RCC's power base has shifted to Central and South America. They are captive to that oligarchy money that keeps their lights on. Without them, the altar boy settlements, the drop in mass attendance and the normal cost of daily operation would have forced them into a garage sale years ago.

When? ~ When we become a theocracy and no are no longer able to accept the fact that elected politicians are not elected to represent only the positions of their stated religion, but to represent a rather diverse constituency.

And your reasons for the pope to take punitive actions against Catholic politicians only provides yet one more reason why it was wise to not elect a bishop of the Mormon faith like Romney if he would be expected to base his presidency on Mormon doctrine without recognizing that we are a diverse nation.

The theocracy needs to focus on the message of Jesus and helping the poor instead of covering up sexual abuse and worrying about gays.
FYI- I was married by a gay priest.

This is exactly where the debate on same sex marriage should be held.

It's a religious issue, and who better to fight it but the leader of the world's largest church?

Maybe the Vatican ought to look a bit closer and vow to fight pedophiles instead.

Hold on one minute. Not everyone who gets married has anything to do with a church, no church involvement whatsoever.

What I mean is, the "morality" of the issue is best left to the church.

    Marriage is a CIVIL right.

    'Sorry for the confusion.

When the tenets of one's purported religion (supposedly derived from an omnipotent mythological beastie) become subservient to the dictates of man, what does one's religion even mean?

Child molestation. The Catholic Church and the liberal-run "education" system in the US have that in common.
