Ben gets attention and props routinely.

The question I have is do they prepare Batch who has a quick release or Leftwich who can throw the deep ball.

If Ryan Clark is out is will be almost as big a blow.
Leftwich really has a long, slooooow release. But he can get the ball deep.

But it will still boil down to the following for the Ravens:

    1. Can they stop the run.
    2. Can Cam dial up the right scheme(s), and can Joe and the offense execute. I think if they mix the run and the pass properly, they can be effective. But that's a big if.
    3. Can they play smart on defense and use the right personnel.

He did complete a few key throws on third down last night. Both have been starting quarterbacks.

That sucks. I'd rather try to take their best shot and see where we stand afterwards than have to listen to the whining that we won because Ben was out, even if they are whining the truth...

And you KNOW that the whining about "You didn't really beat the Steelers because Ben was out" is coming.

Biggest difference is Roethlisberger's ability to step away from the rush, keep the play alive, and turn it into positive yardage. Neither Batch or Leftwich can do that. Steelers have excellent receivers that should get open in the Ravens suspect secondary, but the key will be neutralizing Suggs. Ravens don't have much else in terms of a pass rush so double teaming him will likely be key for Pitt's o-line. But no doubt that no Roethlisberger greatly increases the Raven's chances of winning up there.

I agree somewhat but the Ravens are banged up also.

Also I was being silly about "my sources". This info comes from people who live in western PA. Seems to be the word out there right now.

I agree with the whining. Teams win games, not individuals. They play with who they have at the time. No excuses should ever be made as far as the players - who is playing and who is not.

I expect a tough competitive game no matter what happens. No Ben is a disadvantage as losing Flacco would be for the Ravens.

There are no "what ifs" in football.

If Clark or Troy can't go it will compromise the defense quite a bit.

    Looking forward to this game.

It changes the dynamic of the game but other players often step up and surprise everyone.

I think it will be a good game.

    I enjoy the competition.

I do think the idea that Ben took himself out of a close game to get attention is stupid but typical fandom.

Leftwich hasn't won a game since 2006. He has started 5 games since then, all of which he has lost. Of course Leftwich is a big downgrade from Big Ben. Did you see the game last night? The steelers did nothing with Leftwich in the game.

How often do we get these reports almost every time he seems to have a serious injury? Tests on Ben Roethlisberger's shoulder inconclusive so far

If he had a major injury, wouldn't it be conclusive? If there is a tear or separation, how hard would it be to confirm it? Please excuse me for being skeptical.

I would hope you are right about Roethlisberger; if he suddenly gets better and plays this week, it would mean that he really did go to the hospital in the middle of a game for attention mostly. He would be the NFL's version of a hypochondriac.

"Inconclusive" could mean a lot of things. It could mean they don't know if he needs surgery to repair the injury; swelling might need to be addressed before they can accurately assess the severity of the injury; maybe they don't want to make his situation known immediately to give them some advantage heading into next week, etc. With so much on the line, maybe the truth is that the answer doesn't fit your immediate need to "know" more than it shows Ben is a huge drama queen.

Tomlin continues to crack me up with his press conferences. He mentioned being upstairs in the dark rooms watching the Ravens and he made them sound like the team of the decade.

    Ben having another MRI today.

Antonio Brown and Troy out for another week. Mendenhall working this week.

His last line on injuries.."Exuses are the tools of the incompetent."

I'm saying that if it is a serious injury, the diagnosis would be able to tell if he had a separated shoulder or a hang nail. When I tore my rotator cuff, the doctor immediately said there was no doubt there was a tear after the initial test results came back (he was pretty sure about it even before that) - the severity was found later, but the early diagnosis was seemingly easy to call. I would expect the sports doctors (supposedly the best money can buy) should be able to at least make an initial diagnosis.

And you are right -I want to know now!

WNST just tweeted that it is a shoulder sprain and Steelers say he is questionable for Sunday. Sounds like the vintage drama queen set-up where Ben will be the hero and could play.

    .
and this why I think Ben doesn't see the field on Sunday night. When Ben gets hurt on the field, he is usually ends up back on the sidelines, not on his way to the hospital. There is no drama in this injury, he has a legitmate and possibly serious injury to his throwing shoulder. The Steelers are a lot of things, stupide in not one of them. They will not put the rest of the season at risk just because they play the ravens on Sunday night.

Given our injuries, they can whine all they want.

Smart man. The Ravens/Steelers games have basically decided the division the past two seasons and possible this one.
