It's too bad that there are many unhealthy players. It seems you were correct about Roethlisberger. From the reports I read, he seems to be in a lot of pain and has some maor rib problems.http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/86...-biggest-worry

So I stand corrected this time and I hope he has a complete recovery. It still should be a hard fought game and, as a fan, I know the Steelers will not roll over for the Ravens. If Baltimore wins, the team will earn it.

The loss of Brown makes coverage simpler for the Ravens I think.

I'm curious to see how Haley adjusts his play calling for Leftwich.

He did drive them for a field goal in a must win situation which was a plus.

I'm a long time Steeler fan who stops by and posts on here when our team play each other. I love our matches. The games are just old time, smash style football unlike anything else you'll see in the NFL. I have respect for the Ravens so this is not a trolling post, but rather one I'm making to clear the air of some things I've read that are incorrect.

First off, Ben is not playing Sunday. No last minute hero coming in to try to save the day. He is hurt, seriously. A freak injury, but a serious one nonetheless that will keep him off the field not only for this game, but probably the rest of the season. To all those posters who say he pretends injury, just not so. I have a friend that works for the Steelers who gives me inside scoops and trust me, Ben is one tough SOB who has played in the past when most other QB's would have been sitting on the bench. Not this time.

I of course regret his loss and I am sure many die hard Raven fans also do. You want to play a team at their best, not when patched together. I know the Ravens have similar issues. Such is life in pro football. It's a shame these two teams are not 100% because it makes for such amazing football for fans on both sides. I am old school. I'll root for the Steelers, but should the Ravens prevail, I'll side with your team in the playoffs. It irks me to no end when sissies like Tom Brady and his tricksters beat a tough, hard nosed football team. If you play his again, know there will be a lot of Pittsburgh fans who will be pulling for the Ravens to crush them despite how much it will pain us to side with our arch foes. We are of the same mindset.

Have fun Sunday. Enjoy the game. Respect good footballs fans wherever they reside. It makes the game much more fun and real.

That's what made last year's opener more special than the run of the mill opener -- it was the two best AFCN teams, as close to 100% as teams can get. This year, with 2 games within a 3 week time span, things are very different. Thanks for your post.

The hero's back. He starts on Sunday. It's another miracle. What was once a life-threatening injury, is now merely a flesh wound.

Of course sitting out three games is the result of a flesh wound.

    I'm glad he is back.

I would think if Roethlisberger was faking his injuries to play the hero, he would have returned last week to be the hero against his teams biggest rival. Standing on the sidelines watching a QB that was 3 days shy of his 38th birthday tear up the Ravens secondary had to make him wince in pain over the fact that it wasn't him playing pitch and catch with his receivers. I think the doctors that could clear him or not clear him know better than any second-guessers how badly he was hurt.

Having just watched Denver kill Oakland and watching Manning, think the Ravens and the Steelers are pretty much arguing over being also rans. Never mind Texas, can't see either of these two beating Manning in Denver.

    Sigh.

Agreed. IMO, Houston, Denver and New England are fighting for the shot at the Superbowl. And right now, Manning has Denver in that same kind of groove he had the Colts in. Besides, the NFL really, really, really wants a Denver with Manning vs. New England with Brady AFC championship. Now, the only question is will Houston spoil that party?

I never said he was faking injuries. My comments were on the embellishment of such injuries. If he jams his pinkie, all of a sudden there is talk about a broken arm or torn ligaments, etc. and then, all of a sudden, it gets better. Like magic!

If it was only one time, then so be it. But every and I mean EVERY injury he has is amplified to being one breath from death. There is no doubt that there is usually some kind of injury involved (I really don't think he is THAT desperate for attention, is he?), but not to the extent that he and others would want us to believe.

...and so am I. I don't wish injuries on anyone, including him.

I do wonder why he misses so many Ravens games though.

Good you don't exaggerate. The same concerns were expressed when Amendola had a similar injury and he too is back playing.

Don't take my word for it...
This is from a CBS Sports article. Enjoy...

Roethlisberger, who has a history of publicly embellishing injuries (broken toes/torn rotator cuff) seems to thrive in these situations, and while he does have a shoulder sprain that could very well keep him out of next week's game against Cleveland, it is quite possible he'll be back for Week 13's rematch with the Ravens in Baltimore. His ribs are being monitored by doctors, who have also expressed that the true concern for further injury or aggravation is his shoulder. The star quarterback is week-to-week at this point. According to league sources, if Roethlisberger legitimately had a life-threatening rib issue, coach Mike Tomlin would have spoken to that this week, the team would have ruled him out indefinitely, and also would have made such an announcement well before Wednesday.

So a once life-threatening condition (three weeks ago) is merely a flesh wound now and he is ready to go! It's a miracle I tell ya...a miracle! When you look in the dictionary for the word "hero" you have a picture of a smiling Ben Roethlisberger next to it - in crutches and with a cast, of course.

Ben has played through more injuries than any quarterback in the league. It has to do with professionalism, not heroism.

I thought Cowher was an idiot for playing him a week after an appendectomy.

Why do you insist on making a fool out of yourself with every post?

Maybe this is the real reason he was off for three weeks:
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...es-into-labor/

That, and the fact the Steelers were playing the Ravens for two of those games. What percentage of missed Ravens games has he had lately?

His son was born before the game.

I disagree with DrkBlue often, but overall, he is a decent poster for a Steelers fan. You, on the other hand, have nothing to add to any conversation. That is why I rarely engage you. That is why your posts fizzle in the air. So have a great day and take your insults to someone who cares.

Any father would want to stay with his son a few days after birth (I took off 2 weeks w.o pay for mine), not just be there at birth and say goodbye and go play football. Are you implying Roethlisberger is a deadbeat dad?
